Born out of a mother’s passion for party planning, AZ Sleepy Teepee has become one of Arizona’s most popular luxury sleepover and glamping companies. The business was launched in 2018 when founder Dana Maciag threw her daughter a 10th birthday party unlike any she’d had before. Inspired by a similar idea she spotted online, Dana realized no such services were available at the time and decided to create her own.
The result? A dreamy, Pinterest-worthy sleepover for Jaydan and her friends, which quickly turned into a business opportunity. Within weeks, the company landed its first two clients.
AZ Sleepy Teepee specializes in luxury sleepovers, backyard glamping experiences, balloon decor, luxury picnics, and full-service party planning. Dana’s creative flair and commitment to detail have led to the launch of the Sleepy Teepee Academy, an online coaching platform for professionals looking to scale their own businesses, and SleepyTeepee Boutique, an online party shop.
There are over 30 themes, ranging from seasonal and pop culture-inspired setups to themes explicitly tailored for boys and girls, like “Gamer” and “Breakfast in a Teepee.” Custom options are available for those wanting something truly one-of-a-kind, with Dana personally designing many of the experiences.
Packages are available in both full-service and DIY formats. Every sleepover setup includes twin air mattresses, linens, plush blankets, themed pillows, trays, lanterns, lighting, banners, and decor. Guests get to keep a sleep mask as a keepsake.
For full-service packages, the team delivers, sets up, and returns the next day for breakdown. Items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between uses for maximum safety. For DIY packages, clients either pick up the sleepover sets or have them delivered, with the setup and takedown left in their hands.
The most popular service is individual teepee sleepovers, with the company sometimes sending out more than 110 teepees in a single weekend. During Arizona’s peak party season – from October to May – the Chill Tent, one of the glamping options, becomes a big hit for outdoor gatherings. As for themes, the current front-runner is “Oh So Fancy,” a coquette-inspired design featuring pink bows, lace, and pearls. Since its October debut, it’s been booked nearly every weekend.
For Dana, the most rewarding part of AZ Sleepy Teepee is the opportunity to channel her creativity into joyful memories. Many decorations are handmade, adding a unique, personal touch that sets the company apart.
Dana recently secured a dedicated home base after running the business out of storage units, her garage, and even a room in her house for years. Booking is straightforward. Clients can browse past work, pricing, and available themes on the company’s website and social media.
Once a theme and date are selected, the inquiry form begins booking. A team member guides the client through every step, from signing the contract and submitting a 50 percent deposit to final payment 10 days before the event. Pricing varies depending on the package and number of guests. Full-service sleepovers start at $525; DIY options begin at $235. The canopy sleepover package starts at $700 for six guests and scales up from there.
Looking ahead, Dana has big plans. With the brand trademarked early on, she’s now ready to expand nationally through licensing opportunities.
