When you can’t find Supermodel Heidi Klum saying “auf wiedersehen” to contestants on her incredible show Project Runway, you can definitely find her in her home front as a waxed figure at Madame Tussauds in Berlin, Germany. The life-sized figure was unveiled earlier today by none other than its muse, Heidi Klum, who proudly stood arm in arm with the new addition to the famous museum.
And now you don’t have to travel to Germany or even scour LA looking for a celebrity sighting. The famous Madame Tussaud, which has jaw dropping wax museums all over the world, has finally brought its life-sized and lifelike masterpieces to the celebrity mecca itself, Hollywood Boulevard, and has just revealed its own sculpted and star studded red carpet this past summer.
Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood wax museum gives tourists yet another means of experiencing the Entertainment Capitol of the World while visiting Los Angeles. The new location is of course on Hollywood Boulevard right next door to the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Admission will be $25 for adults; $18 for children under 12.
Madame Tussaud’s was created by French wax artist Marie Tussaud, who opened her first museum in London. Madame Tussaud’s can now be found in Amersterdam, Berlin, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Las Vegas, New York, Washington D.C…. and now California!
About Marie Tussaud: Tussaud learned the art of wax modeling from Dr. Philippe Curtius, a physician skilled in wax modeling. Her mother worked as a housekeeper for Curtius. Tussaud created her first wax sculpture of Voltaire in 1777, according to Wikipedia.
She moved to London in 1802 as a result of the Franco-British War and started up her museum in 1835. The museum’s most recognizable element was its “Chamber of Horrors,” which displayed waxwork of human victims of the French Revolution. The Chamber of Horrors now also includes wax sculptures of murderers and other criminals, according to Wikipedia.
On April 15, 1850, Marie Tussaud died in her sleep. She created a self-portrait, which is on display at the museum’s entrance.
About Heidi Klum: Heidi Klum is a German American model, actress, television host, business woman, fashion designer, television producer, artist, and occasional singer. She has four children and is married to singer Seal. Klum has been on the cover of fashion magazines, including Vogue, ELLE and Marie Claire. She became known after appearing on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and for her work with Victoria’s Secret as an “Angel.” Klum hosted the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2009. In December 2004, she became the host, judge and executive producer of the reality show Project Runway and was nominated for an Emmy in 2008 for “outstanding host of a reality or reality-competition show,” according to Wikipedia.
That does not look like Heidi Klum
I agree with Debbie–maye Heidi’s kid sister or something. I do love those dumb wax museums, though. Too fun!
Madame Tussauds is a must if you visit London, just make sure to bring your camera and dont visit it during the weekend. Then the lines to go in are out of this world.
