Stemistry is the perfect blend of coffee café and flower shop. This concept – created by 18-year-old Valley resident Dylan Capshaw – has grown so quickly in popularity that a new location (the third in two years!) is opening on McDowell Road in Scottsdale this weekend.
The business – known as a “build your own bouquet bar” – was started as a way for guests to create a custom floral arrangement while sipping on a handcrafted coffee or tea.
Drink offerings include traditional cups and more creative sips like a rose, lavender, 24K gold or coconut cream latte. The shop sources its beans from local roasters and uses ingredients from local vendors to create baked goods, sandwiches, and other offerings.
Stemistry is the only retailer inside Road Runner Apartments. It boasts a 1,300-square-foot space filled with fresh flowers, comfortable seating, and communal spaces. This location is the largest of the three, with a full kitchen offering an expanded menu and an impressive flower-arranging area. Walk-ins are welcome and flower arranging classes will also be offered.
“I am so excited to bring Stemistry to a new community,” Capshaw said. “We look forward to offering new items at this store and welcoming first-time guests in.”
For beginners unsure how to craft the perfect bouquet, the store will offer pre-made arrangements from professional Valley florists that can be purchased for pickup or delivery.
Capshaw started Stemistry after numerous other successful entrepreneurial runs. Before opening the first store in 2022, Capshaw also ran two nonprofits – For the Frontline and Capshaw Wildlife.
For the Frontline provides free medical supplies for frontline workers, specifically 3D-printed reusable filtered masks and face shields. Capshaw Wildlife was an exotic animal sanctuary that was home to over 75 animals such as wallabies, porcupines, capybaras, and more.
Capshaw views himself as an entrepreneur and an environmentalist. When he started Stemistry at 15, he became one of the youngest brick-and-mortar store owners in the country.
His passion for Scottsdale landed him on the Mayor’s Youth Council, where he served for two years, working closely with the Mayor on ways to improve the city. Capshaw will attend ASU in the fall at the W.P. Carey School of Business and major in entrepreneurship.
The Scottsdale location’s grand opening will take place on October 5 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Guests can enjoy special deals on drip coffee, a fresh stem with a purchase, free bites, and live music. Stemistry will also offer 20 percent off a monthly subscription with a minimum purchase of three months. For more information, visit stemistry.com.
