Liam and Olivia have secured their spot for yet another year as the most popular baby names in Arizona, according to recent Social Security Administration data.
In the last year, 454 male babies born in Arizona were named Liam and 373 female babies were given the name Olivia. Liam has held its spot as the most popular male name since 2017 and Olivia since 2019.
Among the top 10 male names in Arizona last year were Mateo, Noah, Oliver, Santiago, Sebastian, Elijah, Ezra, Benjamin and Levi. The top 10 female names in the state included Emma, Mia, Isabella, Sophia, Camila, Amelia, Charlotte, Evelyn and Luna trailing Olivia.
Across the country, Liam, Noah, Oliver, James, Elijah, Mateo, Theodore, Henry, Lucas and William secured top 10 most popular names, with Mateo being a new addition. For girls, Olivia, Emma, Charlotte, Amelia, Sophia, Mia, Isabella, Ava, Evelyn and Luna were most popular.
From 2013 to 2023 in Arizona, the names Walker, Theo and Adonis have seen the largest increase in popularity, while Alexa, Kendra and Tyler have fallen from the ranks.
Though Liam and Olivia continue their long-standing streak of fame, history shows that anything can change. For example, Jessica, a popular name throughout the ’80s and ’90s, now lies below the top 100, barely making a mark on the list.
