I’ve always been a girl that’s been into dresses. So when casual dresses came into fashion as a necessary staple, I was totally thrilled. I pretty much stopped wearing jeans altogether in favor of dresses that were so much more feminine and with just one purchase, made a complete ensemble.
But this season, my eye is back on the jean. And since it seems there hasn’t been much in the range of jean trends since last season’s high-waisted wide leg and last year’s skinny jean, all the spring 2009 denim trends are welcome and refreshing.
So what’s hot in denim trends for spring 2009? Let’s have a looksie…
The Boyfriend Jean
We all saw Katie Holmes rocking it last fall, and the slouchy, relaxed fit of the Boyfriend Jean is a definite hit this spring. A looser fit and cuffed above the ankles is how to wear this jean. And you can wear them dressed up with heels or with some sexy summer sandals.
These Levi’s Captial E boyfriend jeans are a nice loose fit and a distressed version of the look. P.S. absolutely adore the shoes pictured. Available at shopbop.com.
Here’s a full look on the Boyfriend Jean, non-distressed, from DKNY. Paired with sexy sandals and a plain white tank. Available at shopbop.com.
If there’s one fledgling denim brand that’s been on every fashionistas radar lately, it’s Current/Elliot. This Boyfriend Jean is a bit distressed and in their “Trash Wash.” Available at Intermix.
Distressed Denim
I can’t explain it, but I’m totally and utterly into distressed denim this season. And the great thing is, you can find pairs with just a few nips or some that are completely torn, in all types of cuts. Here’s a variety.
J Brand acid-wash ripped jeans from shopbop.com. (Again, seriously loving the shoes!)
Current/Elliot distressed skinny jean. Available at Nordstrom.
Here’s a wide-leg distressed look from 7 for all Mankind. Available at shopbop.com.
Citizens of Humanity black skinny ripped jeans. Available at shopbop.com.
Paige denim shorts. Available at shopbop.com.
White Jeans
Whenever they come in and out of fashion, I always have mixed-feelings about white jeans. This season, they’re back. And again, my mixed feelins have returned. But just like the distressed denim, they’re available in all sorts of cuts and styles.
Hudson white bootcut jeans. Available at Nordstrom.
J Brand white pencil leg jeans. Available at shopbop.com.
Goldsign white bermuda shorts. Available at shopbop.com.
Happy spring jean shopping!
P.S. Now that you’re all revved up to stock up on denim, check out Scottsdale Jean Company’s annual sidewalk sale this weekend. You’ll find tons of your favorite brands with serious markdowns up to 80% off!
I don’t like to wear jeans that look dirty. I don’t know if it’s possible to look hip and classy at the same time, but I’m gonna try.
Me too.
I always want a pair of white jeans but I probably wouldn’t make it out the door before getting something on them!
I’m happy to see some shorts a little longer than bun-length for those of us who are older than 14.
Me three.
I have never been a fan of the skinny jeans. It’s just my hang up. Out of all the above jeans, I like the 7 of All Mankind.
I’m sooo not a fan of distressed jeans, but anything to stop the skinny/high-waisted fad is OK by me. I do like the boyfriend jeans, though. I have a few pairs that are a big too big for me–I can magically turn them into boyfriends jeans now!
I have a problem with the super light acid wash 80’s look. I can see them looking cute on someone but that person is not me! I really love all the white styles for spring, that will be my new investment I think!
distressed jeans rock!!
