This year, Sam Fox, local restaurateur extraordinaire, has been named honorary chair of the 2013 Phoenix Heart Ball (taking place Nox. 23). In order to raise money for the worthy cause, Fox Restaurant Concepts has launched a special series for the American Heart Association–the delectable Heart Healthy menus at Fox’s many Valley restaurants.
Shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by 23 percent, Arcadia-based North Italian Farmhouse offers heart-healthy (and delicous) salads made with dark leafy greens: The Kale Salad is made with kale, romaine, arugula, golden raisins, toasted almonds, pickled celery, ricotta salata and sherry vinaigrette, while the Seasonal Vegetable Salad is a yummy concoction of shaved beets, carrots, radishes, kale, romaine, dried fruit, faro, marcona almonds, pecorino cheese and is drizzled with balsamic dressing.
Not only do diners enjoy a healthy and mmm-inducing eat, but proceeds from each of the $10 salads go to the American Heart Association to fund heart disease and stroke prevention and education.
