One of my absolute favorite parts about working with our Fashion and Beauty Editor here at Arizona Foothills Magazine is that I get to learn about and sometimes even try out a variety of beauty products. Since my forte is fashion, I am not what many would call a beauty junkie. I have my favorites, but generally don’t leave my comfort zone.
When I do find that I want to try something new, I get scared off by the amount of products that are offered in the cosmetic section of the beauty department or the copious products touted in fashion and beauty magazines on a monthly basis. So, when our editor hands me a product and says it’s the best, I listen. Recently, fashionista.com gathered a few beauty editors and asked them what they are really buying and why we should too.
Emily Dougherty, Elle:
I can’t leave home without Dior Lip Glow. It provides the perfect combination of moisture and a hint of color. I’ve Google-mapped Sephoras in cities around the world so that I can pick up a new tube whenever I’m running low. (If I don’t have two on me at any given time, I start feeling anxious.)
Celia Ellenberg, Style.com:
When I had long hair, my beauty indulgence was Rare El’ements. The Beverly Hills-based brand uses a super luxe blend of organic, emollient oils that leave your hair incredibly smooth and silky without weighing it down. Its distribution is pretty small and it’s… not cheap. I’d definitely have to ration it out for special occasions to make sure the full-price bottles I’d buy a few times a year lasted as long as possible!
Christina Han, The Cut:
Chanel Inimitable Mascara, $30: It’s the only mascara that gives my lashes a clean, natural but slightly amplified look. The wand also refuses to allow any clumping. And for some magical reason, it’s one of the only mascaras that doesn’t irritate my eyes.
We just picked a few to share, but you can find the entire list here.
