The ombre trend has evolved from hair to lips. The gradation of color from light to dark gives the illusion of fuller lips and has been seen on the runways of Dior, Miu Miu, Jason Wu and more.

The key to a successful ombre lip is selecting two shades that are within the same color family.
First, take a lip pencil and carefully line your lips. Using a lip pencil is key because it will help to bond the lip color to your lips for longer. Then, blend a darker shade over it with a lip brush to define and contour the natural shape of your mouth. Finally, choose a lighter shade and apply to the very center of your lips with the lip brush.

Tips:
- If you’re going for a more natural look, choose a lip pencil shade that is slightly darker than your natural lip and a lipstick that matches closely to your natural lip. For the center, aim for a color that’s only a shade or two lighter than your natural lip color.
- Don’t be afraid to go bold for a night out on the town, a la Dior!
