Being an Italian girl Dolce & Gabbana designs are always near and dear to my heart. And even more so are the amazing makeup looks that Pat McGrath the uber makeup genius creates every season for the dynamic duo.
Here’s a peek through allure.coms eyes at the sultry looks from Fall 2013 that you can’t start wearing right now!
Makeup artist Pat McGrath looked to the clothes themselves for inspiration: “The collection is brightly colored, with beautiful, rich fabrics, so I wanted the girls to look glowing and sunny—lovely cheeks and fabulous liquid liner.”
McGrath evened out models’ skin tones with foundation and concealer, dabbing highlighter on the highest points of the cheekbones and the cupid’s bow for a subtle glow. Then she blended three shades of Dolce & Gabbana blush—Sole (bright orange), Mocha (light brown), and Apricot (orange-brown)—dusting them onto cheeks with a fluffy brush and imparting a soft, sun-kissed glow. “It’s a very vivid flush,” she said.
She primed lids with the light beige shade from the Dolce & Gabanna Desert Eye Shadow Quad, used taupe at the crease and brow bone, and lined the inner rims of the eyes with black kohl eyeliner. “That gives it a cool factor,” she said.
To give the look a glamorous, retro feel, McGrath decided on a soft winged shape for the eyes. She used brown pencil to draw the line, and then went over it with Dolce & Gabbana Intense Liquid Liner, a liquid formula. “It’s always good to get the shape with something softer initially, because the liquid liner really has staying power,” she said. Mascara went on the top and bottom lashes.
“We mixed together Dolce & Gabbana The Lipstick in Chocolate, a medium brown, and Iconic, a bright cherry red, to create this fantastic summer-springy stain on the lips,” McGrath said. She dabbed the warm cherry color on with her finger.
