Happy Thanksgiving! This is one of my favorite holidays because though we should take time everyday to be thankful, it is still a wonderful reminder to be grateful for everything we have: life, family, friends, food, homes, education, careers etc. This year I am thankful for all of this, but I am also thankful to Arizona Foothills and Diane for allowing me to share my love for fashion and beauty with the Style File readers each week. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have!
Okay, so now that we are all thankful for everything…I’m sure you are going to celebrate by gorging on turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, gravy, pumpkin pie, whip cream, pumpkin pie. That is all fine and dandy and certainly allowed, but with a celebration that includes a lot of less than “healthy” options you may find a few unwanted skin eruptions in the coming days. So I have come up with a list of skincare products that will help you avoid bad post-Thanksgiving skin—just one more thing to be thankful for!
One of the best ways to purify skin is to exfoliate. Most women already exfoliate their faces 1 to 3 times a week, but exfoliating the rest of your skin is just as important. Dermologica exfoliating body scrub is a creamy body scrub that helps to smooth, purify, and energize skin. It contains no artificial fragrance or color and can be used with all skin types.
Since I’m sure that you already cleanse and moisturize daily (I do hope!) here is one extra step to take during the week that follows Thanksgiving, or if you love the results, every week after that. The Body Shop’s Warming Mineral Mask contains cinnamon oil, kaolin clay and ginger to deep cleanse the skin as it warms on your face. The warming sensation is caused by zeolite, which helps to draw out impurities. This product can be used on all skin types.
After all the hard work you’ve put into coordinating Thanksgiving dinner for your guests, scrubbing your body with an exfoliator and waiting around for a mask on your face may not be the kind of relaxing you had in mind. However, a nice, hot bath with a yummy smelling tropical bath soak might sound more like it. Ola Hawaii has an Island Purification soak that will allow you to distress while also allowing natural healing ingredients to reenergize your skin.
