New Fragrances – Marchesa Parfume d’ Extase and Chanel Coco Noir

Who doesn’t love a good perfume? An actual good perfume, not just something a celebrity gets paid to endorse…excuse me, I mean “create”.  Finding a marvelous signature scent that beckons others to say “you always smell so good” or “I just love your perfume” it’s positively elegant. It’s like a calling card of loveliness wafting through the air.  But then again, perhaps I am an old school romantic who would rather have one or two crystal decanters on my vanity than ten or twenty.

This month Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa one of the most glamorous fashion labels are launching a new fragrance that is sure to garner as much attention as their red carpet creations.

Perfume d’Extase includes a mix of iris, freesia, young violet leaves, jasmine, iris root, ambrox and musk, comes in a bottle so glamorous and so sophisticated it rivals the sparkly details of the duo’s gorgeous accessories “We looked at our handbags and the signature crystals they have, and we really wanted to incorporate that element,” Chapman told WWD.

And though Chapman and Craig never shy away from confection-like details on their garments “We didn’t want anything too sweet,” said Craig. “Georgina and I don’t like perfumes that can smell sort of sickly, so that was very important when we were going through the process.” “Eveningwear evokes an emotion, and this scent does the same thing,” said Georgina Chapman to WWD

The perfume comes in three different sizes and retails for $25 to $85, It hits Sephora.com on August 24th and lands in Sephora stores in September.

Also from WWD another new Iconic scent- COCO NOIR, Chanel’s new Venice-inspired fragrance, has an “animal sensuality” – according to Chanel perfumer Christopher Sheldrake.

“Noir sits in its own space,” Sheldrake told WWD. “We are careful not to launch a lot of fragrances – we choose to create scents that represent an era, not a passing fancy.”

The scent is the third “Coco” to join the Chanel family after 1984’s Coco and 2001’s Coco Mademoiselle. Created by Chanel’s master perfumer Jacques Polge to represent Coco Chanel’s love of the “dazzle of black and Venice” The fragrance blends grapefruit and Calabrian bergamot, a heart of rose absolute, rose essence, jasmine absolute, narcissus and rose geranium leaf, and a drydown of Brazilian tonka bean, Venezuelan tonka bean, Indonesian patchouli, New Caledonian sandalwood, bourbon vanilla and white musk frankincense.

And as with other Chanel fragrances this one is packaged in a gorgeous onyx square bottle pretty enough that you will want it displayed front and center.

Coco Chanel famously said ” A women who doesn’t wear perfume has no future….

We certainly wouldn’t want to tempt our fate now would we?
