There is no doubt that makeup artists do in fact create beautiful pieces of art, though these pieces may be living, breathing, pieces of art. NARS cosmetics, a huge player in the cosmetics/makeup industry, has taken this idea to the next level by creating an Andy Warhol colour cosmetics collection, which is of course inspired by the artist’s work.
The Andy Warhol collection will be licensed under the Andy Warhol Foundation, created by NARS founder Francois Nars and launch in the fall… We can only imagine what colors and packaging will come of this. Nars.com
In other Pop culture beauty news, nail polish giant OPI will be coming out with a collection inspired by a favorite comic—Spider Man (actually it’s for the new The Amazing Spider-Man movie) At first you may be thinking to yourself “What?!” but is it really that surprising? I mean they did do the whole Muppet and Nicki Minaj thing… and that seemed to work.
The six-color collection will include shades such as “Your Web or Mine?” and “Into the Night.” An official launch date has not been set for the collection, but it will surely be before the summer release date of the movie, which is July 3rd. OPI.com
Speaking of TV and film based beauty inspirations; perhaps you have heard of a series called Mad Men. Yeah, you know the one that fans went crazy for when Banana republic came out with clothing collections for both men and women last year. Well, now you can also have the makeup look of the show. Estee Lauder recently launched their Mad Men Color Collection as part of the legendary Estee Lauder ‘60s collections. The collection is made up of limited edition lipstick and crème rouge.
The lipstick, which is meant to capture the iconic cherry-red lips of the era is aptly named ‘Cherry’ and has a cream satin finish. The ‘Evening Rose’ cream rouge comes in a compact inspired by ‘60s vintage design.
