Rev your engines and take a step back in time this weekend at the Grand Prix of Scottsdale. Starting Friday, Nov. 3 through Sunday, Nov. 5, put on your flapper finest and head to downtown Scottsdale’s Waterfront to celebrate the chic cars of the roaring ’20s in perfectly gilded Gatsby style.
With events like “Gatsby Under the Stars” Friday night and the “Gatsby Garden Party” Saturday, guests are encouraged to don roaring ’20s-era get-ups. Dress like Daisy Buchanan herself with these style picks from local fashion boutique and vintage expert Fashion by Robert Black, who will also showcase looks down the runway at the Gatsby Gala fashion show Friday night.
Formal Gatsby Gala on Friday, Nov. 3

- The key to the 1920’s is a drop waist whether a short dress or a long dress composed of a luxury fabric
- The Gatsby look is beads, and more beads followed by fringe and more fringe!
- Headpieces with jewels or feathers complete the look, as do very long strands of pearls or layered bead necklaces.
Garden Parties on Saturday, Nov. 4

- Floral patterns, lace and chiffon give the flowing feel of a Gatsby party on the lawn
- A cloche hat with a drop waist dress in pastel muted tones works best—this produces a soft elegant look
- Details make a difference– ruffles, short gloves, small lady purse, a light color parasol and silk stockings complete a look
Race Day Ready Attire on Sunday, Nov. 5

- Pants are all the rage with wide pant legs and soft fabrics
- Hats are always a must for the well-dressed woman or man
- Day dresses in thicker fabrics with pearls, pleats and a sweater make for a comfortable day watching the race or brunching trackside
