The fashion world got turned on its head this past weekend when Alexander Wang announced his collaboration with H&M via an Instagram video before the start of a concert at Coachella in Palm Springs.
The 15-second video displays a series of flashing stadium lights that reveal a countdown that stops at 11 06 – the date the collection is set to hit H&M stores.
Wang said in a statement:
“I am honored to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations. The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to push boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.”
Wang will be the first American designer to collaborate with the mega retail chain, following on the heels of other designers like Isabel Marant, Versace and Karl Lagerfeld.
The Alexander Wang x H&M Collection will feature accessories and apparel for women and men at 250 H&M stores and online.
