Boy do I just love award season. It is so fun to see all of the fancy designer dresses that I ogle over on the runway actually worn by real people… okay as close to real people as those dresses will probably ever get. This year’s SAG Awards red carpet was fairly safe and restrained, which I hope is leading up to a more daring Oscars red carpet.
Though the red carpet may not have been extremely wild and daring, we were given plenty of options to consider for our SAG Awards best-dressed list.
Shailene Woodley is quickly becoming one of the young actresses that I look forward to seeing on the red carpet. Her looks are always age appropriate, fresh, and though simple make a statement. I’m a fan. This L’ Wren, blue-sequin dress with white and red floral designs is very feminine, and Woodley wears it with perfect youthful ease.
Emily Blunt wore this Oscar de la Renta like it was nobody’s business. I mean she looks stunning and her little arm party added just the right amount of bling… not that you can tear your eyes away from that beautiful green color anyway.
I was beyond thrilled to see Natalie Portman in this Giambattista Valli Couture dress after the pink dress she wore at the Golden Globes. This dress complements her small figure and flawless skin… and I mean who can wear a natural face like Natalie?
Kyra Sedgwick was looking hot hot hot in this cutout Emilio Pucci gown. It was just the right amount of revealing and she certainly held her own… I wonder what kind of workouts she does?
Emma Stone looked darling in this Alexander McQueen dress. So darling I think that’s the only word I can use to describe it!
Stacy Keibler isn’t a name that you would expect to hear or read about on a red carpet best dressed lest, but George (Clooney that is) picked just the right accessory for his outfit that night. Keibler wore an off-the-shoulder, black lace Marchesa dress that fit her like a glove. Not to mention the fact that it struck the perfect balance between ultra sexy and ladylike.
Okay so I have saved two favorite looks for last… first up, Amber Heard in this amazing Zac Posen gown. Quite a few celebs have worn Posen dresses so far this season, but none quite as well as Amber. The silhouette is just right for her super toned body, unlike Kelly Osbourne’s overwhelming blue Posen dress at the Globes. And she lets the dress take the limelight with minimal jewelry, a fairly natural face, and her hair is fun but not crazy.
And my favorite look of the night—Rose Byrne. Talk about fashion! Byrne made a true fashion statement with this Elie Saab jumpsuit….the sparkles, the wrap front, and the fact that it was from the 2009 collection. Plus can I just say how adorable her bob is? I’m certain that more than a few fashionistas called up their hairstylists and made an appointment for the “Rose Byrne Bob.” (I won’t lie, I’m every bit as tempted to do the same)
