The Devil Wears Prada, the emblematic fashion industry movie inspired by the best-selling book by Lauren Weisberger, will be transformed into a Broadway musical co-produced by Tony winner Elton John and Obie winner Paul Rudnick.
The reimagined musical will naturally feature music by John and book and lyrics by Rudnick.
“I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world,” John said in a statement. “I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.”
The 2006 film co-starred Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, a demanding and notorious editor-in-chief to a top-lauded fashion tome, and Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Priestly’s assistant who finds herself in the throws of the diametric ups and downs within the crazy world of fashion in New York City.
Though word is still mum on casting and production timeline, we can’t wait to hear more!
