The Duchess of Cambridge is often selectively seen and photographed on certain occasions, like her much-documented wedding, or public appearances at home or abroad.
Never before has Kate Middleton been photographed for a magazine until now. The Duchess posed for the June issue of Vogue UK, wearing a coat and shirt by Burberry, and a hat from London vintage retailer Beyond Retro.
“The Duchess had never taken part in a photography shoot like this before,” said Middleton’s spokesperson in an official statement. “She hopes that people appreciate the portraits with the sense of relaxed fun with which they were taken.”
The casual photos were taken on location at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate, where Middleton and Prince William own Anmer Hall, a 10-bedroom family home.
The editorial was produced in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery to coincide with its exhibit “Vogue 100: A Century of Style,” to celebrate the glossy’s 100th anniversary. This is also fitting, as Middleton’s official royal portrait has been in the Gallery since 2013. Two additional portraits from her Vogue UK spread will join the other on permanent display at the National Portrait Gallery in June.
