Nominees for the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s annual CFDA Fashion Awards were jointly announced by CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg and CEO Steven Kolb at the Bowery Hotel in New York Tuesday night.
Fashion favorites Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Joseph Altuzarra were all nominated for Womenswear Designer of the Year, while The Row’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were nominated for the second time for Accessories Designer of the Year, along with Wang and Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough of Proenza Schouler.
Nominees, like Wes Gordon (Womenswear) and Jennifer Fisher (Acessories), of the subsequent Swarovski Awards will hope to receive both monetary sponsorship and precious Swarovski stones.
A handful of awards – including the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award (Tom Ford), Media Award (Paul Cavaco), Founders Award (Bethann Hardison), Board of Director’s Tribute Award (Ruth Finle) and International Award (Raf Simons) – are also doled out to honorees selected by the board itself instead of vote count.
The winners of the awards will be announced June 2 by host John Waters at Lincoln Center in New York City.
