Watch Models Transform in Photoshop Time-Lapse Videos

How many nips and tucks by way of the Photoshop wand does it take to make a model look “perfect” for an advertisement?

Retouching company Rare Digital Art created a series of time-lapse videos to demonstrate how much effort goes into editing images for a glossy fashion campaign.

In the first 90-second video, retoucher Elizabeth Moss spends six hours transforming an already gorgeous and normal-looking model into a pore-less and perfectly symmetrical version of herself on Photoshop.

The New York-based firm has done work for the world’s top fashion magazines and brands, like Vogue, Vanity Fair and Yves St. Laurent.

“These videos are unique because none of the high end retouchers make these type of videos, so the quality of the other before and after retouching videos available online are pretty terrible and not at all representative of what is typically done on high fashion editorials and campaigns,” Moss told PetaPixel.

Speaking of pores, Moss actually adds pores to the skin in this video that took 90 minutes of retouching in 90 seconds.

What do you think – Are these edits deceiving, purporting unrealistic beauty standards, or are they simply creative works of art?
