It is entirely possible that you’ve been too busy with life and all of its goings on to realize that New York Fashion Week and therefore Fashion Month is just on the horizon, though I certainly hope that is not the case. Many of us, the fashion obsessed that is, will not have the pleasure of sitting or even standing in the tents and watching the models strut down the catwalks, but that doesn’t mean that we cannot participate on some level.
So get out those calendars and notepads! Here is some very important information you’ll need to fully experience the gift that keeps on giving _______ (you can fill in the blank: fashion, fashion week, fashion month, Marc Jacobs etc.).
To kick off the start of New York Fashion Week the now wildly popular Fashion’s Night Out will be held in several cities throughout the country and around the world on September 6th, making it possible for all fashionistas to join in on the fun. Here in Arizona there will be plenty of fabulous activities at favorite shopping locations from Biltmore Fashion Park to Chandler Fashion Center, check out the Arizona Foothills Guide to Fashion’s Night Out.
If you are not familiar with Fashion’s Night Out, it is an unprecedented global initiative created in 2009 to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy during the recession, and put the fun back in shopping! In the United States, the program is a collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York.
New York Fashion Week will be showing the Spring 2013 collections from September 6th thru September 13th. And of course if you can’t be there… you can still be there. Yup, they will be live streaming several shows on the Live From the Runway YouTube channel. Just don’t get caught at work… and if you are a student they are now streaming live on the mobile YouTube channel (tell your professors it is all in the name of art).
Following NYFW we head over to London for shows from our favorite friends across the pond from September 14th thru September 18th.
After much quibbling the dates have been settled and Milan Fashion Week will take place from September 19th thru September 26th.
And finally, arguably the most anticipated week, Paris Fashion Week will bring us to the end of Fashion Month (so sad already) from September 25th thru October 3rd.
