So “the season” will be officially on us in just two days and I for one feel utterly unprepared not with gifts, or cards, or what to bring to the potluck Christmas parties but rather with what to wear…. It seems this year I have been so terribly swamped with a massive to do list that I simply have not taken the time to fill the holiday outfit arsenal. The ammo of ensembles is not yet stocked.
So what goes on my list of additions this party season….First a new LBD always the cornerstone of any party look. Then there’s the little metallic number which can come in the form of a skirt, jacket, top or pants etc, to round it all out one must have that killer go- to piece whether is a pencil skirt, an amazing pair of heels, or an icing on the cake necklace whatever it is, it’s the piece that makes you feel like a zillion…. whatever your pre-party mood. I am certainly looking for the absolute most easy pieces, that I can throw on in a snap to go from day to night.
So if like me you have barely had any time to add to your holiday outfit spirit, have no fear…. I am combing the racks as we speak, as you read, as I type… in any case there are so many darling little things that I just want to get my as of yet un-manicured claws on that I can hardly stand it.
I am over the moon for this green strapless number by Elizabeth and James. Normally I would shun a color this bright but the details in this dress all work together to keep it from being to girlie girl. Available at www.intermix.com
This backless black dress from Alice+Olivia is sexy without revealing too much…just don’t forget to bring a wrap for extra chilly evenings! www.bloomingdales.com
Or for a little more skin coverage try this bell sleeved one by Elizabeth and James.
I love this little sequin jacket from 7 for All Mankind. It will work with slim jeans, cuffed shorts (with tights of course) or simple dresses. www.piperlime.com
Or this Jacket that is classic Mad Men by Alice + Olivia… you can’t go wrong with small does of animal print. You can find it a Neiman Marcus.
And we can’t forget about the shoes… hello kitty… these Elizabeth and James “Rizzo” booties are my latest craving…me likey!
Lastly a big hunka- chunka necklace like this one from Alexis Bittar will go well with just about everything imaginable www.alexisbittar.com
I heart that Elizabeth and James green dress.
these are all great looks and i have no problem with what to wear to holdiay parties, but i can never figure out what to wear to family parties and christmas dinner at my inlaws. i dont want to show much skin, it nees to be comfy enough for a big dinner and playig around with kids on the floor, and i cant have shoes as part of my outfit, so its HARD! what to wear that is sute and festive, yet parent approved?
