So in exactly one month, I’ll be turning 59 in Bunny Years. (If you haven’t seen the movie “House Bunny” yet, go get it now, it’s hilarious and you’ll totally understand the reference.)
Like any gal, I’m not too thrilled. Except for hopefully some nice presents, turning older is never any fun. And even if I’m not getting wiser or welcoming another year with warm embraces one tradition I do always keep: I love to treat myself to a fabulous birthday dress every year. Let’s face it, getting older is hard enough to begin with, easing the pain with a fabulous party dress makes it so much simpler!
So, with a month’s time remaining, let the shopping begin.
No matter what the plan is, you can’t go wrong with an amazing black dress. This black satin Alexander McQueen number from Net-a-porter is definitely a standout. $1,995.
I may have posted this before, but I definitely love this Alice & Olivia silk dress. It’s simple, cute but totally different. $440. Neiman Marcus.
I’m definitely putting this LaRok fringe mini dress on my “maybe” list. Not that I don’t love the others, but at $228 it’s a tad more reasonable than the rest. And I totally heart a fabulous white dress, especially for summer. Neiman Marcus.
This is so a Barbie dress. So a Barbie princess birthday dress but it’s too fun, flirty and girly to not post. It’s actually sold out on Net-a-porter but I had to post anyway. Marchesa ruffle dress, $750.
I’m really really into this Preen assymetrical dress. I’m not normally into this shade of teal (or blue?) but I love the folds at the top of the dress and its structured bottom. $1,020. Net-a-porter.
It’s pretty easy to tell that I love drapey dresses. They’re comfy, easy and look so effortlessly stylish. Again, I wouldn’t normally gravitate toward this shade, yellow is so very bold, but I would definitely rock this Robert Rodriguez draped dress. $374. Neiman Marcus.
Totally heart this. And would be perfect if I had some sort of daytime or super casual evening affair. T-bags long dress, $203. shopbop.com.
This dress is totally simple and not super chic, but I love the color and I think its simplicity is actually what attracts me to it. It’s a bright beautiful color that would standout in an amazing way with the right gold accessories. Rachel Pally blue dress, $216. shopbop.com.
It’s rare to see this shade of chocolate for summer. But honestly, I’m just really obsessed with the back of this dress. I love a dress that’s unexpectedly sexy, and showing some back is a definite head-turner. Milly brown dress, $337. Shopbop.com.

I could totally use one of these dresses for my trp to Vegas this weekend! I love the yellow Rodriguez and black McQueen dresses.
I’ve had three bday parties over the past two weeks but none fancy enough to wear one of these cute dresses. And House Bunny is hilarious!
Who can spend over $1,000 on a dress. Phew! But they are so stylish and beautiful, and House Bunny is a ridiculously funny movie.
Yes, well, there’s a reason the over $1,000 dresses weren’t included in my poll, that’s just a TAD out of my reach!
That Alexander McQueen dress is to die for. It definitely does have a big tag, but take it from me a black dress like that can be worth the investment!
omg, go with the blue dress for sure!! I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE DRESSES. Yes, PLEASE.
Being that I just bought two dresses for events I can’t reach for a third. But my suggestion, go for the brown Milly. The back design is so worth it.
I’m obsessed with the Alice & Olivia silk dress, it looks so fresh, classy and comfy!
I LOVE the Robert Rodriguez dress!
Great posting! I fully consent with you.
