I, along with virtually every other modern woman, find that I am multitasking seemingly every waking moment of my day. Generally it goes something likes this: take the dogs for a walk, picking up their um—waste while Tweeting, Facebooking, texting, taking phone calls, and getting the mail. Of course I have to take my purse because you never know what I may need, my wallet in case I decide to take a stroll to the nearest Starbucks or maybe some lip balm.
So it is no surprise that with all the purse options we ladies have I choose a crossbody bag. It leaves my hands free to do the five other things I need to do, none of which are holding my purse, while also stuffing it to the brim with whatever I pick up along the way. Of course, we all have different lifestyles and style preferences, so here are some of the season’s most fashionable and functional crossbody bags.
A brand that I just recently discovered is Hung on U and I must admit I am obsessed. These bags are the brainchild of Super Model Patti Hansen, Producer/Manager Molly Madden, and DPK designer Debi Koppel. The inspiration for the handbags was a personal one for Patti and Molly, “[they]loved their bags from when they lived their unbridled lifestyles during the studio 54 era in New York” according to the Hung on U website.
The bags are constructed of all types of materials, from exotic ostrich and alligator to pony and mesh with price points ranging from $250-$8,500.
Crossbody bags truly come in every shape, size, and style, but one of my favorites is the crossbody satchel. It not only has room for all your daily necessities, but it also seamlessly goes from causal to business—so no need to change purses on the weekend.
The crossbody satchel happens to have a little sister—the small leather satchel. The great thing about these compact bags is that there is a style that suits everyone. Whether your affinity is for 70’s retro, modern western, or edgy rock-n-roll these bags will only enhance your daily wardrobe.
As much as I love a clutch for an evening out sometimes I just don’t feel like carrying it around for hours on end—not to mention keeping track of it all night. Believe it or not there are crossbody bags glamorous enough, even for the red carpet. Two important things to keep in mind to keep 1) choose a small bag and 2) make sure it has a chain strap. The chain will make your purse appear more like an accessory and less like you’re on your way to run errands.
