Rarely will you ever meet a woman who doesn’t have a fascination with shoes. Men never really quite understand it but for most of us there is something so intoxicating about a wonderful pair of heels, flats, sandals etc. For the first few years of my marriage it wasn’t unusual to hear my husband commenting on the often “improper” footwear for whatever activity we were doing. He felt that if we were walking around a city like New York, Chicago or even London that I should be wearing “sensible” shoes…. I of course thought otherwise. How could I be wearing tennis shoes on the streets of NYC? There is a reason that Sex and the City portrayed Carrie Bradshaw- the shoe addict as they did… it’s because women in that city (with the exception of the 80’s power tennis shoe) have always donned skyscraper heels!
This season I am beyond the beyond excited about the selection of foot wear. Back in the eighties my friends and I had no shortage of utiliatarian “granny” boots and this season Alexander Wang did the most amazing versions that tops my shopping list. The hardest part is deciding between the olive colored ones or the black ones….hmmm
If you are in to strappy….and I mean “bondage” strappy Gucci off white or black heels are a feat (no pun intended) of design architecture not to be missed.
Or for a punch of color nobody beats Tory Burch’s bright blush colored heels.
If the wedge is more your speed than Celine’s chunkier than chunky wood heels are the pair to stop traffic.
And Prada runs a close second with their classic jute trimmed leather wedges.
If your prefer bold and graphic Pierre Hardy’s metallic lace up pair are to die for.
For evening Givenchy did a gorgeous cream colored pair that wreaks of 40’s glamour.
Of course some of us has reverted to flats for everyday and despite the fact that they aren’t as elongating there is just something to be said for a great ballet slipper like the Balenciaga ones trimmed in leather.
Or the Christian Louboutin studded ballet flat soon to be available in easter egg blue I hear.
Or perhaps a sweet little strappy flat gladiator sandal by Sigerson Morrison that will go perfectly with just about any Spring dress or pant.
I even love the classic Gucci thong sandals that are perfect for an island vacation or maybe just a day out to lunch with the girls.
