Finally, finally, finally it’s beginning to look a lot like winter which means that it’s time to switch up your beauty routine along with your wardrobe. I for one have dragged out the vintage fur jacket in anticipation of chilly winter mornings on location and I have opened up the big guns of skin care for the dry winter air that seems to be seeping in. I am always amazed that people actually try to use the same skin care all year round….not to mention the same makeup. Hello luvs it’s the desert which means that we get only get drier as the season progresses. And while we’re on the subject, the more dull your skin looks the more brightening up you are going to need from your makeup bag as well.
To give your skin a hydrating boost switch to a creamy cleanser like Cle de Peau rather than one that foams which can tragically strip the skin of moisture. Then try a face cream with ceramides or peptides that will help trap moisture into the skin like Kinerase. The last thing you want is for the top layer of the epidermis to lose moisture and get flaky. To keep from looking sallow a berry red or coral red stain topped with a hint of gloss will help keep lips looking lush and supple.
Pair that with a pink or rose blush such as Sonia Kashuk sheer liquid tint in Peony lightly smoothed over the cheeks to give that fresh from the slopes glow. A hint of bronzer brushed lightly across the t-zone can wake up the face but don’t go overboard, the goal is to look refreshed not like you’re in a tanorexia contest with Victoria Beckham.
To keep yourself snuggly warm without sacrificing chic now is the time to try out the boyfriend sweater trend loads of stops like Gap or Old Navy have jumped on board for not too much green.
Just be sure not to go too oversized so it looks like you’re drowning in knits and always pair it with something slim on the bottom…unless of course you have the lanky limbs of Heidi Klum otherwise you will end of adding extra lbs.. Another great look this season is the trapper hat but, proceed with caution… a too big hat will certainly ring of Paul Bunyon instead of chic snow bunny.
If you will be spending any time in icy weather be sure to pick up a pair of lug-sole boots to keep your tootsies comfy. Look for a pair like the Prada version that has a slim cut leg and not too clunky toe which will make them more versatile with pants, dresses or leggings.
‘Tis the season.
It’s too bad we can’t actually wear a hat like that in the Valley–too warm.
AAahhh Winter!! I love it!
lovin the cooler weather!!
