For over the past 20 years, we’ve celebrated the Valley’s best. From the top businesses and professionals to the people who make it all happen, Arizona Foothills Magazine’s annual Best of Our Valley contest recognizes Arizona’s crème de la crème across more than 400 categories. From the best doctors and best resort down to the best cup of coffee you can find around town, each Best of titleholder is chosen by those who know the city best – our readers.
Each week, we’ll be highlighting individual winners from Best of Our Valley 2019, who share their advice, insights and thoughts on what it means to be a part of this exclusive list. Winners will be featured in the April 2019 issue of Arizona Foothills Magazine, a tell-all guide to the best people and places in the Valley of the Sun, as chosen by its residents.
The Best of spotlight is on Geeks Who Eat who claimed Favorite Local Food Blog. Congrats, Geeks Who Eat!
AFM: In a brief 2-3 sentences, please tell us a little bit about Geeks Who Eat —
Geeks Who Eat: Geeks Who Eat is the premier geeky food site in the Valley. We create recipes and write restaurant reviews based on their ties to geek culture and the community.
AFM: What does it mean to you to be a Best of Our Valley winner?
Geeks Who Eat: It means the world to us to be recognized. Bringing the geek community to the public eye in an arena it is not normally recognized is a huge and important feat for us.
AFM: What’s your favorite part about being the Best of Our Valley’s Favorite Local Food Blog?
Geeks Who Eat: Our favorite thing about being BoOV’s Favorite Local Food Blog is having 3 years of hard work recognized and having the community we are a part of represented! It feels validating to know that others love what we do as much as we do.
AFM: Have you seen any benefits as a result of being a BOOV winner?
Geeks Who Eat: The biggest benefit is the growth in support we’ve seen from fans of our site. We couldn’t be where we are without them and appreciate them so much!
AFM: How do you put your “best” foot forward every day?
Geeks Who Eat: We strive to create content that gives our readers confidence in the kitchen or the mindset of being adventurous in a restaurant by trying new things. Being accessible to everyone has been at the forefront of our brand since day one!
