Each week, we’ll be highlighting individual winners from Best of Our Valley 2018, who share their advice, insights and thoughts on what it means to be a part of this exclusive list.
The Best of spotlight is on Michael Land, who claimed Best Local Band/Musician. Congrats, Michael!
AFM: In a brief 2-3 sentences, please tell us a little bit about you!
Michael Land (ML): I’m an energetic performer and soulful singer/songwriter based in Arizona. I have performed for over 20 years and absolutely love doing music for a living!
AFM: What does it mean to you to be a Best of Our Valley winner?
ML: It means a lot to be a Best of Our Valley winner because it tells me that people across the Valley are connecting to me and my music., which is why I do what I do!
AFM: What’s your favorite part about being the Best of Our Valley’s Best Local Band/Musician?
ML: My favorite part about being the Best of Our Valley Best Local Band/Musician is the opportunity to be introduced to the people in the AZ Foothills community who may not know about me. I love making new friends and singing around the Valley to so many awesome peeps! =)
AFM: What advice would you give to others to be the “best” in your field?
ML: Be fully present and engaging at EVERY performance opportunity. When you don’t ‘show up’ people can sense the disconnection. So whether you’re performing to 20 or 20,000, always give your best!
AFM: Have you seen any benefits as a result of being a BOOV winner?
ML: Yes, I have received a FLOOD of positive feedback and encouragement from being the winner. And I have no doubt that it will continue to help grow my business and build more relationships throughout the Valley! And it looks really great to have on my website as well! =) AZ Foothills did a great job on the branding and artwork!
AFM: How do you put your “best” foot forward every day?
ML: My best foot forward every day means, remembering that I don’t have to compare myself to anyone else to be successful. What counts is that I am putting my best foot forward and being 100% genuine!
