Anyone interested in local shops that carry art and handmade goods has surely heard of MoonAge on Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe. What many people may not know however, is that they recently relocated their business to DeSoto Central Market in downtown Phoenix, with some big changes along with that move.
MoonAge owners, Tyler Greene and Kelli Van, opened their Tempe location in 2014, and are moving to narrow the brand’s focus on what has brought them such great success in the last year and half.
In Tempe, MoonAge carried jewelry, soy candles, artwork and photography by local artists. At the new location, the focus will be on just handmade jewelry, candles and greeting cards.
The MoonAge jewelry business blew up both online and through wholesale in the last few years, and is even carried in different boutiques around the country. Van says that it was difficult to manage both the contracted artists and their jewelry at the old location, and now by carrying just a few different types of products, they can focus more on growth. DeSoto even has their own art curator, so the new shop will still be surrounded by local artwork.
Although the new shop is a bit of a downsize going from being a storefront to a permanent pop-up shop, the new location will attract customers that may not have known about MoonAge before; this is thanks to the higher foot traffic at DeSoto Central Market than at their old shop.
The new location is artfully decorated using black and white tiles, glass cases and lighting bold accents, so it fits the brand’s identity well. Stop by MoonAge at DeSoto Central Market to pick up unique handmade jewelry and greeting cards, and hand poured and blended, luxury soy candles that brighten up any room.
DeSoto Central Market is located at 915 N Central Ave. Phoenix, 85004.
