What made you realize you wanted to be an architect?
I have always loved any outlet that let me express creativity. My grandmother taught me to paint and sew, and fueled my creativity from a young age.
What is your favorite thing about Arizona?
I love all of the incredible places to hike and explore in town as well as short drives up north for cooler temperatures!
What inspires you?
I can be inspired by anything –an innovative product, my clients or a material. I enjoy being inspired by things around me.
Describe your favorite design project that you have completed:
One of my favorites is definitely a bunk bed fort for a young growing family. The looks on the boys faces when they saw their new fort were priceless!
What is your favorite type of space to design?
I truly enjoy working on kitchens and family rooms, as they are typically the hub of the home where the family gathers. It is so vital to make that space comfortable for the family’s lifestyle.
What was your first design job?
I was an intern at a commercial design and architecture firm. I was exposed to so many aspects of the world of design and realized how much I had to learn! It was a great experience to see the actual design process taking place and how it all comes together from the ground up.
I’m currently working on…
a home in Highlands, NC for a client I originally worked with here in the Valley. It is a great feeling to work with a client who is happy with their home and is excited to start on the next project!
What is your dream design project?
I love working on new construction when there is a great team synergy from the builder, architect, designer and client. It is so rewarding to see a project from start to finish.
The one person who motivates me is…
my mom. Her unconditional love and support helps keep me grounded through the good times and the tough ones too!
Who is a designer that inspires you and why?
Kelly Wearstler. I admire her bold and fearless approach, and that her aesthetic covers everything from fashion to residential design.
What is your favorite luxury brand?
One of my favorite luxury brands is Hudson Furniture. Their furnishings and lighting collections are absolutely stunning.
