Located in Scottsdale’s Desert Mountain, this urban lodge designed by Jeni Robison, founder of Dettaglio Interior Design, carefully combines warm and woodsy with industrial-cool touches throughout. “We were fortunate to work with [the clients] from plan stage to furnishings and accessorizing,” says Robison. “We blended urban elements such as hot-rolled steel, walnut cabinets and industrial custom light fixtures with lodge materials such as reclaimed wood, rustic beams and stone facades to create this unique design. Careful attention was paid to meld the two styles.”
Kitchen “We used hot-rolled steel to create the custom hood and the coordinating island front. The two-tier island was created with a cool gray quartz and a white marble waterfall raised portion. We added a punch of color with the blue barstools.”
Great Room “The colorful wool-and-silk rug was custom made and hand-woven in Nepal. The metal-and-wood coffee table was built extra large to fit the space. Hair-on-hide ottomans are used for extra seating.”
Master Bedroom and Bathroom “Our clients requested an atypical upholstered bed, so we used three different trades who teamed up to incorporate suede panels, wood verticals and metal horizontal bands. The nightstands and bench were made to coordinate. The colorful rug and art were the perfect combination to finish the room. For the master tub, we blended the rustic stone and beams with the clean contemporary tub for an urban lodge juxtaposition.”
Dining Room “Our clients loved the look of walnut but didn’t want to be concerned about its durability with sliding plates. Therefore, we put the walnut accent strip down the middle of the table with a zinc surround. The zinc will still scratch but they were open to the natural wear of zinc. We designed the light fixture suspended from an iron bar to add to the effect of the room but not detract from the feature table.”
