How did you get started in the design/build industry? I started out working for Ira Fulton in the retail business in Los Angeles.  When they sold the company, I joined him at Fulton Homes where I’ve been ever since.

What is your favorite project in Arizona? That’s hard to say. I have enjoyed my time working on all the different Fulton Homes communities. They are all great.

What inspires you and your work? What inspires me is being able to help educate and enlighten others and to seek constant improvement.

What is something timeless every home should have? A kitchen and great room plan so that it can be a gathering place for friends and family.

What is considered trendy in homes at this time?  Painted cabinets. You’re not limited to just a few colors nowadays. Cabinets can really tie the room together if painted the right color.

What do you consider your biggest professional accomplishment?  Our 13,000-sq.-ft. Design Center (pictured) in Tempe. Having the customer be able to see all the Design, Operations, Technological advances, Personnel and Merchandise selections available for them to pick is amazing. And then, of course, providing a great customer experience.

What advice do you have for young people or students hoping to pursue a design/build career?  I would say get started with a builder or a company that is open to new and creative ideas.
