A typical day in my life includes…Hot yoga, getting kids ready for school, working with ketamine assisted psychotherapy and connecting with my community and clients, making dinner, walking our dog, connecting with my family and laughing a lot, and finally sleep!
I was born… in Santa Monica, CA
My favorite thing about Arizona…The smell of the desert after rainfall. I think it’s the Creosote Bush?
I’m listening to…nothing. I don’t do Audible and I rarely listen to podcasts. If I’m listening to something, it’s usually my Playlist or something like Van Morrison radio on Spotify.
My family…inspires me to keep learning and keep being a better version of myself. Every move I make is with my family in mind and how it will impact my children, especially.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…my cousin who lives in Sweden. We so rarely get to see each other and I miss her all the time.
One thing I cannot live without…honestly, cheese.
When I was younger, I wanted to be…it has always been something in medicine AND, a mom! As soon as I found out, maybe age 4, that women have babies, I knew that was for me.
I’m inspired by…nature. I feel that every question we have, we will find the answer in nature.
The one person who motivates me is…not a person per se, my dog motivates me every day. He’s super naughty if he doesn’t get exercise so he gets me up and moving every day without fail.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be…the chance for every woman to have the time and space and resources to really bond with her newborn baby. This would put an end to most of our social problems in my opinion.
The perfect day would be…one that started after a full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
My first job was…a waitress at Sugar Bowl in Scottsdale.
My favorite escape…is walking on a sandy beach. Doesn’t matter where, just so I can see the vast ocean and feel waves crashing near my feet. My mind is immediately put at ease.
My life…is very full!
I’m currently working on…myself 🙂
Always…take time to listen to your child, especially when they ask for your attention about a problem they’re having.
Never…lose to fear.
Favorite Quote… “There’s a future version of me who’s proud I was strong enough.” – khanos
Biggest Dream…Having a retreat center for healing.
My Pet Peeve(s)…when people talk on their cell phone in public places that aren’t meant for loud chatter.

Ajona Olsen MSN, APRN, ANP-C, is a local nurse practitioner who recently opened a ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) private practice. Ketamine is a synthetic pharmaceutical compound, FDA approved in 1970, and classified as a dissociative anesthetic due to its tendency to produce a disconnection from your usual way of feeling and experiencing.
