A typical day in my life includes…
a new adventure each minute!
I was born…
in Arizona and I love the desert. No matter where I live or travel, the desert Southwest will always feel like home.
My favorite thing about Arizona…
is the diversity – of the people, culture, and landscape. I love that I can drive a short distance to have a completely different cultural experience or to be in a vastly different environment. Arizona is the perfect place to find a new experience.
I’m listening to…
a new audiobook from the library about every other week. Recent favorites include: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr; Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson; and Lafayette in the Somewhat United States by Sarah Vowell.
My family…
is the most important thing to me.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…
Agnes Bordt – my maternal grandmother who I never knew. I was lucky to have lived in the same city with my paternal grandparents for most of my life and they were instrumental in my upbringing. Because she died young, I never knew Agnes, but I’m sure we would have liked each other very much!
When I was younger, I wanted to be…
an astronaut. I follow NASA on Twitter and keep up on all of the exploratory missions. I’m a member of Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff and visit every time I am in town.
I’m inspired by…
people. I think people are extraordinary and the things they do amaze me.
The one person who motivates me is…
me. Thankfully, I am a self-motivated person. I can give myself a really good pep-talk!
If I could change anything in the world, it would be…
the lack of understanding of other cultures. Once you meet someone who is completely different than you, and really listen to that person, it is much easier to relate to them.
The perfect day would be…
a day where I accomplish everything on my to-do list and still have time to relax with my husband and drink a cocktail.
My first job was…
teaching and assisting with classes through the Parks & Recreation department.
My favorite escape…
anywhere I’ve never been!
My life…
is pretty good.
I’m currently working on…
expanding Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona’s services, improving my Spanish language skills, and beating the Nintendo game I’m currently playing.
Always…
be kind.
Never…
respond while you are angry – especially in writing. Nothing good will come from it. Calm down first and then put a rational response together.
Favorite Quote…
“I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world.” – Socrates
Biggest Dream…
to spend an entire year traveling the globe!
My Pet Peeve(s)…
bad grammar.
