Name: Charles E. Eckert, Jr. some people call me Charles, some Chuck; some Ched; some Ed; one person in particular calls me Henry. No, I don’t know why.
Website: www.redhawkgaragesuites.com
Age: Old enough to know better and maybe still possibly young enough to do it again.
Title: Formally, president/CEO, managing director and founder, but I prefer principal. Far less ostentatious.
Married/Single: Yes. Single for 30+ years and married 36+ years to same woman, happily. Now that’s badass, I don’t care who you are!
Kids: We messed up. Had only 3.
City you live in: Scottsdale most of the time but prefer Flagstaff whenever the opportunity arises.
A typical day in my life includes… wondering why it took me so long to enter into and to become reasonably proficient in my current line of work.
I was born… in Tripoli, Libya, although my family is from Salt Lake City and Wichita Falls, Texas. When out together, my pal Howard Bell makes sure to remind everyone else in attendance that I am the only true African-American in the room….yes, he is Black.
My favorite thing about Arizona… its absolutely amazing geological formations and awesome diverse climate – I can be getting a tan in Jan and skiing two hours later in Flag.
I’m listening to… the Holy Spirit as often as I can…but most of the time I’m distracted by life’s noises.
My family… is the best thing that ever happened to me…Thanks, Christina.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… Dr. Thomas Sowell, Ph.D., but he died suddenly last year before I had the chance.
One thing I cannot live without… Christina.
When I was younger, I wanted to be… an old school investment banker on Wall Street.
I’m inspired by… working with smart but ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
The one person who motivates me is… Christina with Jesus as a close second.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be… Modern liberalism/leftism (as opposed to Classical liberalism). I am stunned at the hubris of those who are so strongly opinionated yet so ill-prepared and unable to consider, evaluate or debate lines of thinking outside of their preconceived and not necessarily reasoned lines of thinking on a matter that has proven to be an abject failure for centuries on end.
The perfect day would be… I’ll get back to you on that.
My first job was… a huge misstep. Should have gone to grad school.
My favorite escape… anywhere I can hang with friends over a terrific cigar, a good sampling of well-formulated brown water and lively debate of topics usually not discussed in polite company.
My life… Yes, it is.
I’m currently working on… trying to think bigger, operative word being “trying.”
Always… avoid absolutes.
Never… assume absolutes.
Favorite Quote… And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
Biggest Dream… contentment.
My Pet Peeve(s)… over-reaching, over-arching government and those who support it, followed closely by self-righteous, smug, condescending politicians who have accomplished little in life other than to win some popularity contests and to enrich themselves in the process, yet think themselves grand.
Bio-on yourself/company: Small, opportunistic real estate speculator and developer with 17 successful projects completed in Arizona since 1997. Latest endeavor is Red Hawk Garage Suites in Deer Valley, a luxury automotive storage project delivering auto enthusiasts from high-end collectors to motor-heads to RV’ers to off-roaders and everyone in between a place to store, show off and work on their “stuff.” Red Hawk Garage Suites are fully customizable. The only limit is one’s imagination. The project site constitutes a secure campus built of concrete and steel with all the amenities one would like to have in a garage at home including a community Club Room, cigar lounge, outdoor patio and grilling area, and an upper mezzanine deck to take in the views. Of the 46 Garage Suites offered for sale, 28 are in escrow with sales momentum increasing every month. Red Hawk Garage Suites is not just a unique storage solution, it is a part of a lifestyle statement, and the concept is catching on. Red Hawk is currently seeking 3 to-5-acre sites in the West Valley for its next Garage Suites project. Simultaneously, Red Hawk Development is currently raising capital to develop a 35-unit residential rental community, also in Deer Valley, to help satisfy the seemingly insatiable housing demand in the north Phoenix market. Generally, Red Hawk Development develops in undiscovered niche markets to meet the needs of local people before others exploit them. Since 1997, Red Hawk Development has provided land planning, zoning, entitlement and site development services in addition to commercial real estate brokerage services for nearly one hundred clients and projects from Chino Valley to Cave Creek to central Phoenix.
