A typical day in my life includes… Getting up before the sun to take care of our horses. If you start your day shoveling horse poop, it typically only improves from there. After that, I am in the office and on the road looking for new real estate investment projects in the communities where our investors live, work, and play.
I was born… and raised in Canada.
My favorite thing about Arizona… is FREEDOM and wide open spaces
I’m listening to… turkey hunting podcasts. Turkeys have a brain the size of a pea, but you practically need a PhD to successfully hunt them
My family… does not understand my obsession cleaning the lint trap in the dryer
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… My grandfathers. They both lied about their ages and joined the army at 17 and stormed the beaches on D-Day in WWII. They both passed before I had a chance to really talk to them about that.
One thing I cannot live without… Dogs. We have three dogs and I cannot imagine life without them. I also volunteer with an organization called HARTT that humanely captures and reunites lost family pets with their owners. It is very challenging and extremely rewarding work (http://azhartt.org)
When I was younger, I wanted to be… a professional hockey player. Turns out you need to be really good. I still play but my dreams of the NHL have been gone for a while.
I’m inspired by… My grandfathers as mentioned above. I will catch myself being frustrated by a minor inconvenience like traffic and take a step back and remember that it could be much worse.
The one person who motivates me is… My wife. She has endless patience and energy for the family
If I could change anything in the world, it would be… that able bodied people who do not return their grocery carts to the designated area are publicly flogged.
The perfect day would be… a balance of hard exercise, getting work done, and spending quality time with the family
My first job was… McDonald’s when I was 15
My favorite escape… is our national forests. With and without the family.
My life… includes just the right amount of organized chaos
I’m currently working on… an exciting ‘yet to be announced’ project at Neighborhood Ventures. We are democratizing real estate investing and have some great things in the works.

Chris is the VP of Acquisitions for Neighborhood Ventures, the nation’s largest community-based real estate investment company. He earned a Master’s Degree in International Real Estate from the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) and the University of Hong Kong, is a Chartered Property Finance & Investment Surveyor, a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, and a licensed real estate broker in the State of Arizona. Throughout his career, Chris has led the acquisition and disposition of over $1.5 billion worth of commercial real estate assets as well as overseeing more than 20 development projects.
Neighborhood Ventures is based in Phoenix and was founded in September 2017 by multifamily brokerage veteran John Kobierowski and former Goldman Sachs tech analyst Jamison Manwaring.
