A typical day in my life includes… Getting my kids to school, walking my dog, then spending the afternoon at my office in Old Town doing what I love most: connecting with people–both the living and non-living!
I was born… with a capacity to pick up on the energy and emotions of everyone around me– so much so, that it created a ton of anxiety! Little did I know then that my “anxiety” was merely a sensitivity to the energy of others that I had no clue how to handle at such a young age?!
My favorite thing about Arizona… is the casual, relaxed vibe. And the smell after a (much-needed!) rainstorm!
I’m listening to… the peaceful hum of my fan on Speed 2 in my stuffy office.
My family… are my greatest champions. They’ve supported me in every facet of my life, from my earliest years– and I don’t take them for granted! They let me be myself, and love me anyway. Not in spite of my idiosyncrasies, because of them. I definitely hit the family jackpot, because I happen to actually like these people I didn’t get to choose, in addition to loving them!
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… my Gram! She died at 102 with no health issues, a ton of moxie, and more friends of all ages than most people can claim. She taught me the importance of being a “vault” by keeping the confidences of others, and that the legacy you leave behind is how you make others feel about themselves!
One thing I cannot live without… chocolate. Never. enough. chocolate.
When I was younger, I wanted to be… a lawyer. I’ve always had a big mouth and have always needed “the last word,” (according to my parents and my pre-school teacher!).
I’m inspired by… people that have lived through truly hard life circumstances that they didn’t choose–and yet, with grit and perseverance, they continue to get up each day and work towards building the life that they want. Also, people that are open and curious, with a growth mindset. I love when people ask questions and allow themselves to see a situation or idea in a new way!
The one person who motivates me is… me! I’ve learned that the only way I’ll achieve anything in my life is if I make a conscious decision to do something, followed by making a constant effort to do so! I also know that I may not feel motivated every day to work towards my goals, so I have to be COMMITTED to making them happen!
If I could change anything in the world, it would be… the divisiveness among us. And the injustice of systemic racism that still perpetuates today.
The perfect day would be… waking up with no alarm to an ocean view. Meditating outside on the deck overlooking said ocean. Getting a good workout in, eating a yummy breakfast followed by a great cup of coffee, then spending the day with people I love that fill my soul. Oh, and ice cream! Cannot forget ice cream…
My first job was… as an “Oompah Loompah” dipping chocolates for my cousin’s candy business. That will always be the best job EVER! (One for the tray, one in my mouth, repeat…!)
My favorite escape… anywhere in nature that’s quiet, near water. And here I am, living in the desert for 24 years…whaaat?!
My life… is finally representative of who I truly am, on the soul level. It’s a reflection of all of the experiences and people that have shaped me, and the conscious choices I’ve made to live authentically.
I’m currently working on… being more self-aware of my triggers, and my reactions to said triggers.
Always… be true to who you are, whether you’re liked and understood by others or not. This is your journey, so do what suits YOU; no one has to be ok with you other than YOU!
Never… give up on your own growth. We are all works in progress, all on a journey of our own self-investigation and self-healing. We can always find opportunities to grow, change, learn, and evolve; we are never “stuck” unless we choose to be!
Favorite Quote… ”She remembered who she was and the game changed.” -Lalah Delia
Biggest Dream… to be able to wake up and look at my life with a feeling of happy satisfaction– knowing that my kids are ok; that I give love openly and am loved in return; and that I’ve made an impact on the greater collective by helping others recognize or re-discover their own Divine light.
My Pet Peeve(s)… when people leave their grocery carts in the parking lot without returning them! It takes 3 minutes and to me, is the ultimate sign of character; shows me that someone cares and respects others. Also, when patrons are rude to waitstaff– NO EXCUSE to treat anyone as if they’re beneath you! We are ALL human beings that deserve respect; your job is no more important or worthy than anyone else’s! It’s so much easier to BE KIND!
