I was born…
the underdog!
My favorite thing about Arizona…
is that once October hits, we forgive May through September.
I’m listening to…
my kids playing Legos down in the living room, and a woodpecker going nuts on our African Sumac in the backyard.
My family…
it ain’t always pretty, but it’s REAL.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…
my best friend Mickiala. She lives in Seattle, and we hardly ever see each other. We know everything about each other, and we know each other so well that the silence is completely comfortable between us- we already know what the other is thinking, at all times. I would rather have dinner with her than any celebrity or dignitary in history.
One thing I cannot live without…
St. Germaine pink lipstick by Mac. Happiness in a tube.
When I was younger, I wanted to be…
a mommy. I never dreamed I’d be successful as an entrepreneur, or even BE an entrepreneur.
I’m inspired by…
people who DO WORK! Firefighters, cops, military men and women, construction workers…the dirtier your fingernails and rougher your hands, the more I am inspired by you. Middle-America…auto-workers, people who work from dawn till dusk…that’s who excites me, who inspires me to work as hard as I do. That’s what I want my children to be inspired by, too.
The one person who motivates me is…
my boxing trainer, Marty! I am a ridiculously self-motivated person, I don’t really need anyone to motivate me, but my trainer Marty knows just by looking at my face when I walk in the gym exactly what I need that day. He brings out the beast inside of me!
If I could change anything in the world, it would be…
woman-on-woman warfare. That crap has gotta go.
The perfect day would be…
oh geez, I think every day is my perfect day. As long as I get my workout in, I get 6 hours in my shop and store, a few quality hours with my family, see my girlfriends, and eat at least one Sprinkles cupcake, I’m good. I don’t need anything other than what I already have, and that is the truth.
My first job was…
McDonald’s in West Seattle, baby! I worked that drive-thru like nobody’s business!
My favorite escape…
the backyard of our house or a girlfriend’s house, with all of my girlfriends and our husbands there, drinking cocktails and eating guacamole and chips while our kids run around in their swimsuits yelling and swimming and being kids. I never, ever feel more blessed than those evenings. My “village” is my escape- not to sound trite, I truly appreciate and revel in those moments when my heart is so full it feels like it’ll burst. I don’t need to escape from that awesomeness.
My life…
is perfectly imperfect! And certainly different from how it could have gone.
I’m currently working on…
the future plans for my company, Firedaughter Clothing (FD).
Always…
work ethically. I am 100% convinced that working ethically is why I’m such a happy businesswoman. Being able to sleep at night is good.
Never…
be anyone’s doormat. Know your worth.
Favorite Quote…
If you don’t give up and don’t give in, you may just be okay.
Biggest Dream…
I’m living it, baby.
My Pet Peeve(s)…
when the top is off my Jeep and it rains. Other than that, I’m good.
