A typical day in my life includes…
I would describe my days as busy and more of a whirlwind. While I do make sure I have days where I do less, a busy day for me would be as follows…
I begin most of my work days before 5am. Something about waking up early automatically puts me in a productive mood, and that’s probably because waking up is usually the hardest part of the day! I have a small protein snack and head right to the gym. If I don’t, the rest of my day suffers. After the gym I come home and shower and make breakfast (my favorite is avocado and eggs) and then I get ready for the day depending on what I am doing. Usually I meet my photographer for a shoot, and then I have a meeting with my assistant. After that, I crack down on my to do list, which varies and ranges day to day, but takes me up until the afternoon, which is when I leave to go teach at Aveda, where I spend the evening educating. I get home late and do some stretching, shower, and then go straight to bed to wake up early the next day. When I am traveling this is very different, but on a day to day this is what my day looks like.
I was born…
in a small town in Michigan.
My favorite thing about Arizona…
the winters are amazing! And rarely a cloudy day, it helps me stay in a positive mood.
I’m listening to…
every motivational podcast I can get my hands on!
My family…
is the most important thing in my life.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…
a lot of people. I could think of a list of 100 people instantly I would love to sit down with, but I think ultimately it would be with myself, three years ago during a particularly hard time in my life.
One thing I cannot live without…
inspiration. I am in constant need of inspiration. It feeds my creativity and it is what keeps me going.
When I was younger, I wanted to be…
a Target cashier (no, seriously!) when I was little, I told my mom that was my dream. Besides that, short lived dream, for the most part I have wanted to be a motivational speaker, fashion designer, and at the time I didn’t know it would be called a blogger.
I’m inspired by…
people with big goals, ambitions who aren’t afraid of their dreams. I am very easily inspired, it is not uncommon for me to go for a walk and then come back with ten new ideas of things I want to try or do. I also love to talk to people who are passionate about something. My favorite thing is to ask somebody what their dream is and watch for the magical moment when they start to tell you and their face lights up. It is hands down one of my favorite parts of my job.
The one person who motivates me is…
I would say my parents. They are both business owners and they really have taught me what it means to work hard. My whole life I saw how hard they worked, and it is a huge part of who I am today. I would not have accomplished so may of my goals if they had not taught me what it really means to work hard.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be…
judgement towards each other, to name one of the many.
The perfect day would be…
cuddled up in my grandparent’s lake house, listening to the sound of my family talking and laughing in the background. It is in those moments I feel most safe and happy. I always try to hold onto that feeling whenever I feel lost or afraid.
My first job was…
an assistant associate at Maurice clothing store.
My favorite escape…
the beach. Lake Michigan, to be exact.
My life…
is centered on Jesus Christ, and my family. My career is a huge part of who I am, but it is not who I am.
I’m currently working on…
launching my clothing line and traveling, and some projects that I am not allowed to talk about yet! But stay tuned!
Always…
love yourself first.
Never…
let other people tell you who you are an who you are not. That is for you to decide. That is your truth to live.
Favorite Quote…
“You will never influence the world by trying to be like it.” As well as “comparison is the thief of joy.” These two quotes have kept me on track with my ambitions and dreams more times than I can say.
Biggest Dream…
to be surrounded by thousands of people around the world and tell them how much I believe in their goals and dreams. To empower them to create the lives they want. I get emotional about this because it is something I have felt deeply since I was young. How other people view themselves has always heavily affected me. Nothing breaks my heart more than somebody who doesn’t believe in themselves. My biggest dream would be to spend my life telling people that they can create the life they have and that if they don’t believe in themselves, I will believe in them until they do.
My Pet Peeve(s)…
when people talk down about themselves. It makes me physically cringe.
