City you live in: Vail/Tucson 85641. Over a year ago I’ve moved here with my husband and our cat form Europe, Poland. We’ve found a beautiful ranch outside the town among trees and saguaros where I’ve created my fashion atelier.
A typical day in my life includes…
morning coffee, watching my cactus’s grow (what a view!), emails, working on my designs, projects, talking and writing with my clients.
I was born…
in Poland.
My favorite thing about Arizona…
I’ve seen Arizona in the movies, and now I’m living here. This is an amazing adventure. I’ve already seen the rest of the world; I’ve traveled around Europe, I’ve lived in Athens/Greece for a few years, and now it’s time for exploring Arizona. I’m so glad that life presented this opportunity to me. After heavy European winters, the climate of Arizona is like a blessing!
I’m listening to…
that depends on what I’m doing. Jazz from 60’s, Hip Hop, Chopin depending on the project I’m working on. Music can be inspiration or destruction.
My family…
has been very supportive in whatever I do.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…
First Lady Michelle and President Barack Obama, they seem like a lovely couple 🙂
One thing I cannot live without…
good coffee and…good coffee.
When I was younger, I wanted to be…
ever since I can remember I wanted to be an artist, a painter. When I was little girl in primary school, I painted like crazy. Mostly watercolors and acrylic, then oil. The obvious choice for me was to follow my instinct so I went to an art-profiled high-school where as a teenager I learned about composition, colors, light, shade, golden ratio, history of art, etc. Besides painting, I was also enjoying sculpting – actually, later on, I was torn between painting and sculpting when choosing my specialization. Eventually, I graduated in multimedia departments at two Academies of Fine Arts in Gdansk/Poland and Athens/Greece. After graduating, for more than 10 years, I have worked in Greece in film, video and digital art areas. I always have been interested in clothing though. Even in primary school I was designing my own clothes. Back then, I was lucky to collaborate with a very talented seamstress – my mother’s friend – who was supporting my ideas and taught me a lot. Later, I made my own prom dress, then my own wedding dress and generally my everyday clothes. For me clothing design is like editing a movie or painting, you’re just using different material. It’s all about idea, color, composition, texture and pattern. It’s all about art. The only difference is that you can actually wear what you have made! That’s why I love fashion design.
I’m inspired by…
emotions, fairy tales, history of art and life itself.
The one person who motivates me is…
I motivate myself mostly, but when I have my moments of doubt, my husband is there for me. He is the one who kicks my butt to carry on.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be…
character and attitude of some bad people I know, people who destroys other people life for no real reason whatsoever. I hate corruption and self-centered politicians.
The perfect day would be…
to see me and my husbands plan to create an open art space come to life. Like I mentioned before, we’ve moved from Europe to Arizona last year. He is a really great filmmaker, inventor, computer programmer, Emmy/Oscar/MTV winner and has received many other prestigious awards. We work together. We found this beautiful location in Vail-Tucson where we planning to create a space where art, science and life become one, and where we can cooperate with talented people. Arizona is filled with so many interesting musicians, designers, filmmakers, actors, models, photographers, scientists and technologists. So far in Tucson we have met many people who we have had the pleasure to work with. In the beginning we want to make special-effects fashion films.
My first job was…
when I was 16 I got my first paid job designing and painting images of horses on the walls of an old stable. The owner of the stable wanted to turn it into a pub. It was fantastic job, I had total freedom with designing and painting on 3 meter high walls. I earned good money for my art. At the time I was already a student of an art-profiled high school. No, wait! That was my second big job. My first job was playing french horn in a Child-Teenage Brass Orchestra which was fun. I was about 12 years old and we were traveling around Poland playing concerts and on top of it they were paying us, crazy right?
My favorite escape…
riding a bike. I just love, love wandering the streets whether it’s a city or the “wild, wild west”
My life…
is fantastic, I cherish every day.
I’m currently working on…
my new collection SS17 “Mad Doll House” which will be shown at Fashion Week San Diego, Phoenix Fashion Week, and Tucson Fashion week come fall (details on my website). Also, I am working on branding my Theo Doro fashion line, trying to find nice boutiques to place my goods.
Always…
be truthful to yourself and do what your gut tells you, otherwise you will be unhappy.
Never…
hm…I never wear jeans. I know, weird. OK, maybe when I’m hiking.
Favorite Quote…“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
So true because no matter how hard and honest you work on achieving your goals, there is always the possibility that someone or something will thwart your plans. Sometimes it turns out for the best though, just don’t give up and have your eyes wide open.
Biggest Dream…
to keep developing my goals.
My Pet Peeve(s)…
mosquitoes, flies and dishonest officials.
