Name: Kylee Austin
Age: 31
Title: Director of Healthy Living and Aquatics at the Ross Farnsworth East Valley YMCA
Married/Single: happily married to my high school sweetheart and love of my life.\
Kids: I have three beautiful boys that are three, one, and one (yes, TWINS and a three year old!) They are exactly 24 months apart.
City you live in: Gilbert
A typical day in my life includes…
going crazy chasing around my three boys and recently throwing in a full-time job (that I love and is my escape from the crazy)!
I was born…
a dork? Oh, in Orange County, California, but I mostly grew up in Glendale, Az.
My favorite thing about Arizona…
everything?! The sunsets, spring, the food and family friendly things to do.
I’m listening to…
audible constantly! I just finished “Dare to Lead” by Brene Brown, I LOVE everything she does and she’s basically why I’m here and bleed vulnerability all the time.
My family…
is the best! I love our crazy life. I’m surrounded by my parents, siblings, in-laws, and grandparents in Phoenix and I’m so glad to have them as support. My husband was in the Air Force and it was hard being away from home, but we had wonderful adventures together in Japan other places. He is now a prosecutor for the City of Scottsdale and works as a Reservist at Luke Air Force Base. My dad is my hero and runs local non-profit in Mesa called We-Cycle-USA. My mom is a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines and a ball full of fun. My brother is in healthcare in the west valley.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…
it is going to sound cliché, but Jesus! I love me some Jesus. I want to soak up every ounce of his wisdom.
One thing I cannot live without…
besides Jesus? Netflix? That’s so bad! But, I’m a huge binge watcher. I love my Netflix and Hulu!
When I was younger, I wanted to be…
an actress, a teacher, a lawyer and then the president in that order. I have been a teacher. My husband is a lawyer (and I basically took law school with him, haha). And I’ve had a few minutes of fame, so once I become the president my life will be complete.
I’m inspired by…
so many people and things! I’m a sucker for overcoming the odds stories, rooting for the underdog, and people who accomplish unbelievable things. I always think, if they can do it under the worst of circumstances, surely I can get over myself and wake up early and work out, or survive one more day surrounded by my screaming kids, and hopefully I learn from their stories to appreciate those hard moments that aren’t so hard in comparison.
The one person who motivates me is…
my dad. Six months ago he received quintuple bypass surgery and ever since realized just how precious life is and changed his world by eating healthy and getting better. He never gives up, he is kind in everything he does, and is selfless completely.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be…
I would get rid of hatred for sure. If we could all love the way Jesus loves the world would be a better place!
The perfect day would be…
kicking back at an AZ Spring Training game on the grass while my kids run around happily, gazing into the face of my love on a gorgeous March day.
My first job was…
a courtesy clerk at AJ’s Fine Foods! I still love shopping there!
My favorite escape…
Sedona! It’s one of my favorite places ever. Give me a Jacuzzi and the sunset and I’m good for life.
My life…
rocks! Honestly, I’m super lucky. I’m not rich by most standards, but I’m surrounded by love and I’m happy with that.
I’m currently working on…
transitioning into being a full-time working mom after staying at home for the last two years with my littles. It’s definitely a delicate balance!
Always…
dream big!
Never…
give up!
Favorite Quote…
“She believe she could, so she did.” – R.S. Grey
Biggest Dream…
star on my own fitness program!
My Pet Peeve(s)…
when my husband picks what to watch on TV and then falls asleep on the couch, so I’m stuck watching on my own because I have to find out what happens. Specific, I know, but it gets under my skin like you wouldn’t imagine!! It also happens ALL the time!
