Foundress Friday: Amanda Kapci, Founder of The Nanny Concierge

Meet Amanda Kapci, the founder and CEO of The Nanny Concierge, also known at TNC.

The Nanny Concierge offers elite nanny placement to make sure all clients receive the best candidate possible.

By taking the time to get to know families, TNC helps put together the best course of action to assist a client in finding the perfect nanny. The company seeks to create a lasting relationship between the pairs.

“We set our clients and nannies up for success from the very beginning of our engagement with them. The Nanny Concierge builds lasting relationships between nanny and family.”

AZF: What is your “life motto?”

AK: Go for it! I’m a daredevil so I’ll try anything to see if it will work or not. I feel like the worst that can happen is someone tells you no or it doesn’t work out, so you have to go for it!

AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path right for you?

AK: I want to say yes immediately. But what I actually wanted to be when I was little was the President of the United States. So, I guess entrepreneur is a close second. I realized that was the right path when I wasn’t a very good employee. Seriously, I don’t take direction well from anyone. My brain is constantly on. It’s hard for me to stay on task with things that don’t excite me or challenge me. I have always been extremely independent and strong-willed. I was telling someone the other day that my mom always prayed that I would use my confidence and independence to be a leader someday. Here I am – so thank you, mom! When you find that specific path you connect to immediately, you won’t stop until you make it work.

AZF: How do you feel best supported?

AK: As an entrepreneur, so much of what you do is on your own. There really isn’t a lot of support around you, typically. It’s your vision, your blood, sweat, and tears. As I’ve built the agency and my team, I have found support in many different ways. Most importantly, my family. My husband was the first person to tell me, ‘You have a dream, go for it!’ He has never tried to hold me back or make me feel like this wasn’t my calling. He supports me and my dreams every day. I’ve also found support from other business owners who have taken time to teach me, guide me and strengthen me to be where I’m at today. I am so thankful for those mentors and friends.

AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?

AK: Grit, determination and stamina. I will not fail. I will not allow my dream to fail. It’s not an option. Even when the days are long and extremely difficult and I want to hang it all up and go work at Trader Joe’s (because everyone is so happy there), I pick myself up, dust off and keep going. Because failure is not an option for me. I have four beautiful daughters who are looking up to me and watching me do hard things every day. I pray that the grit and determination they see in me will help them to be extremely successful women.

AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.

AK: I love to be home. My ideal Saturday morning would include sleeping in, enjoying a cup of coffee on the patio and hanging out with my family. I love to be outside and stay active. Bike rides, walks in the park with my dog, swimming, hiking, I love it all! Shopping would be the last thing I’d like to do for fun…seriously.

AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?

AK: Go for it and don’t give up on your dreams! It’s going to be hard and incredibly draining at times, but you’ve got this! Keep going, learn from your mistakes and make changes to strengthen your business, your goals, and yourself.

AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?

AK: So many things excite me about being an entrepreneur. In any job I’ve held, I’ve had moments of being bored or restless but being a business owner, you’re never bored! I love building my team, our processes, and helping my team members feel successful in their roles at TNC. Helping others feel successful every day brings me so much joy.
