You Are Youthful is a permanent art studio focusing on fineline tattoos and permanent makeup that “offers services for all your permanent beauty needs in multiple locations.”
Katz was introduced to the world of permanent makeup in 2019 and expanded her knowledge through top-rated education courses, including color theory, stroke methodology, science of needles, master microblading, powder brows, scar camouflage, and more.
“At You Are Youthful, we focus on enhancing your natural beauty, not taking away from it,” Merkatz said.
AZF: What is your “life motto?”
AM: Burnt toast! The “burnt toast theory” is a metaphor used to explain how minor inconveniences or negative experiences can lead to positive outcomes in the long run, even if they seem frustrating at the moment.
The idea comes from the scenario where you burn your toast in the morning, causing a delay in your routine. While it feels like a bad start to the day, that delay might lead to something positive later, such as avoiding an accident, meeting someone important, or experiencing a lucky event that wouldn’t have happened if you had left on time.
AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path right for you?
AM: I always wanted to be an artist. The entrepreneur part came later. I grew up with entrepreneur parents and grandparents, so luckily it came naturally.
AZF: How do you feel best supported?
AM: I feel best supported when people are accountable and show their support through action versus words.
AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?
AM: Remember that grit is the thing that separates you from the rest.
AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.
AM: Waking up around 8, having coffee in bed, and slowly getting up around 9. Leisurely turn on some music and go for a walk. Come back, make breakfast, and enjoy the view.
AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?
AM: Put your wildest dreams out there and find a plan of action to get you to those dreams. Nothing is impossible and you will surprise yourself with how much you can accomplish.
AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?
AM: What excites me most about being an entrepreneur is the adventure and unpredictability. You are ALWAYS learning no matter if you want to or not and that is intriguing and can be thrilling at times.
