At Number Nerd Bookkeeping, Founder and “Chief Number Nerd” Heather Pranitis believes “fun” and “finance” belong in the same sentence.
“Our mission is to help entrepreneurs stop stressing over their books and start making strategic decisions based on real numbers. Whether you’re a solo business owner or running a multi-million-dollar brand, we help you decode the story your numbers are telling, so you can grow with confidence – and maybe even enjoy the process,” Pranitis said.
AZF: What is your “life motto?”
HP: Know your numbers. Trust your gut. Take action.
AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path right for you?
HP: Not at first! I started out in the corporate world, but I always felt like I was meant for something bigger. Something where I could make a real impact. When I realized I could take my skills and build a business that helped people understand their finances (without all the boring, old-school accounting jargon), I knew I had found my path.
AZF: How do you feel best supported?
HP: Surrounding myself with smart, driven people who understand the ups and downs of business ownership. Having a strong support system – whether it’s mentors, fellow entrepreneurs, or my team – makes all the difference. Oh, and coffee. Lots of coffee.
AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?
HP: Seeing the transformations in my clients’ businesses. When they go from feeling overwhelmed to empowered, I know I’m doing exactly what I was meant to do. That, and knowing that every challenge is just another lesson in disguise.
AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.
HP: A slow morning with my boyfriend and our three Miniature American Shepherds, Moose, Jax, and Dink. Good coffee in hand, and a great book. If we’re traveling, even better!
AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?
HP: Know your numbers from day one. Even if you’re just getting started, understanding your finances will set you up for success. And don’t wait for “perfect.” Take action, learn as you go, and adjust when needed. The best way to grow is to start.
AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?
HP: The freedom to build something that truly serves people. I love watching clients have those “a-ha” moments when they realize their finances aren’t as scary as they thought, and they finally feel in control. Plus, no corporate red tape? That’s a win.
