AZF: What is your “life motto”?
LM: Surround yourself with good people, support the ones you love (personally, professionally and morally) and the good things will always come!!
AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path right for you?
LM: The word “entrepreneur” isn’t used very often in healthcare, but I have always aspired to have leadership roles and have searched for involvement in being a part of something bigger than just “doing my job.” Trust the signs that are given to you! The world has its way of connecting and coming together and my partner, Nick Hadinger, owner of Streamline, old classmate and college friend approached me with the original idea of Streamline because he was sick of being constricted by insurance, seeing too many patients and not being in the environment to provide elevated healthcare. After several serendipitous moments and meetings at breweries, we decided building Streamline was the best way we could create the job that is best for our patients giving them the appropriate attention to detail they need as well as creating a culture and atmosphere that we love to work in.
AZF: How do you feel best supported?
LM: I am very blessed to have an incredible support system, my fiancé, family, friends and coworkers. I get to feel their support daily. In my opinion, the best way I feel support is when either one or all show up and are just happy to be there. I look back at our grand opening of our own location and looking around the room full of my family and friends filled me with pride. Having a great team and co-workers is beyond important because they are who you are surrounded by daily. Enjoying and trusting those you work with is what helps build and foster a successful team. At the end of the day, show up and just be there. I make a conscious effort to do the same for those I love.
AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst of the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?
LM: There are several challenges of being an entrepreneur and many hats to be worn. Not only am I a physical therapist, I am now an amateur web page designer, social media manager, marketing representative and several other various tasks that make a business run! But what truly motivates me is the ability to create and atmosphere where I am able to give my 100% undivided attention to my patients. Our healthcare system is so broken and does not allow time to give adequate care. I love that I get to have a full hour with each of my clients to actually help them reach their goals. Knowing that I am actively helping people become better faster, stronger and keep them participating in their hobbies, sports or just living a happier pain-free life is more rewarding than any other job I have ever had. At the end of the day, I work for my patients and love watching them succeed. e experienced…
AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.
LM: My perfect Saturday morning starts with a walk and a stop at the dog park with the goodest girl, Margaux, and my fiancé, Cameron. Next up is a fancy over priced coffee at a new local coffee shop (or an old favorite) on the way to the golf course with my fiancé and some friends or my family, (hopefully playing my best round yet and not missing any stupid putts). Then we would transition to a nice lunch with probably even more friends joining at the latest new lunch/brunch spot in town. I love trying and supporting all the new local spots!
AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?
LM: My greatest advice is to know that it will be challenging and definitely scary, but get excited about it the change and watch how you get to become the person you want to be. You had the dream for a reason. It is okay to lean on your support system and trust your teammates/partners. They are in it with you.
