AZF: What is your “life motto?”
MR: Lead with kindness, be spontaneous, and pursue growth – both personally and professionally.
AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path right for you?
MR: Honestly, I never had any aspirations of becoming an entrepreneur. I didn’t have the first idea of how to start or run a business. Initially, I had families pay me through a professional payroll company as I did not understand the concept of an LLC, or how to manage it. As my work as an NCS took off I was blessed to have a friend help me set up my LLC, and I hired an accountant. Since then I have had amazing mentors and coaches help me along the way, and I have learned so much. I am beyond grateful!
AZF: How do you feel best supported?
MR: I feel best supported when there is clear communication so I always know where things stand, and can ask questions when needed. Also, having support and guidance from friends, family, and other entrepreneurs when needed helps me feel supported in both my personal and professional paths.
AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?
MR: There have been some dry spells in my career as an entrepreneur, and there were moments when I doubted myself – but they were brief. I stayed the course even when it was challenging. My faith, vision, and drive have kept me motivated, with the help of many along the way.
AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.
MR: My perfect Saturday morning is sleeping in, then joining my daughter for brunch, a spa day, and catching up on all the things!
AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?
MR: Research, seek mentorship, and network with others who are successful in the industry you’d like to pursue. Show up as your genuine self and don’t be afraid to ask questions. It can be intimidating at first, but eventually, you will find a community of people who will help you find the resources needed to help you get started.
AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?
MR: What excites me the most about being an entrepreneur is the freedom to work on my terms and shape my path. What I do is not just a job, it is a true passion that brings me joy and purpose, knowing I’m making a difference in the lives of the families I support.
