Foundress Fridays: Tracy Trieu, owner of True Blue Waters Travel

Meet Tracy Trieu, owner of True Blue Waters Travel.

True Blue plans and books adults-only vacations with the value of fun, harmony and indulgence in mind. No matter who you choose as your travel companion, the company can assist in planning multi-generational trips, romantic escapes, even “best friends” getaways. Travelers can choose from luxury hotels, resorts or cruises that include international custom itineraries.

“We know you want a seamless vacation where you can unwind and connect with loved ones in amazing destinations. Planning can be overwhelming without the right skills, experience or connections. DIY-ing often leaves you unsure if reality will match the pictures. You deserve a professionally planned vacation that makes creating unforgettable memories effortless.”

AZF: What is your “life motto?”

TT: Just show up. Get out of your comfort zone. Don’t worry about perfection. Focus on the consistency of being present.

AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path right for you?

TT: I was always interested in entrepreneurship, but did not have a firm idea of what business I wanted to start until 2022 when I was in Cusco, Peru. I had just left my corporate job in supply chain and embarked on a goal to travel the world for one year.

I started to wonder what’s next. I knew I had a passion for new experiences and learning about different cultures. I was also a meticulous planner. Part of the joy of traveling started before I had even made it to the airport.  The research and logistics of planning a trip brought me equally as much excitement as the experience itself. With over 30 countries visited, I decided to launch my travel agency so I could share my planning skills with someone who might find it more daunting or simply doesn’t have the time.

I know it was the right path for me when I hear clients say, “I don’t know how we would have made this trip happen without you.”

AZF: How do you feel best supported?

TT: Having a community of entrepreneurs has been the best gift of support in my journey as a business owner. It’s powerful to be surrounded by others who are in every stage of business. I’m constantly absorbing knowledge, motivation and inspiration.

AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?

TT: I’m the most energized knowing that I’m serving a need. It’s important as an entrepreneur to know your “why” in the midst of all the challenges running a business brings. Focusing on the part of being an entrepreneur that gives me joy helps me look forward to a future where I can bring in support to help me continue doing what I love.

AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.

TT: I recently had the perfect Saturday morning in Maui. I was up early from the time zone difference and started the day with a walk on the beach. A girlfriend and I stayed at the beautiful Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort and did a yoga practice together before fueling up on a big breakfast and coffee. Anywhere near a body of water is my happy place.

AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?

TT: Take your journey one day at a time. You might be starting small and growing but strive to deliver a great product or service and exceed expectations. Wow your customers or clients on the value your business brings and you will see the growth in time.

AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?

TT: Being my own boss! I love waking up and getting to decide on my priorities for the day. Having that flexibility has allowed me to structure my lifestyle in a way that makes me feel the most energized and healthy. I might go workout in the middle of the day, take client meetings in the afternoon, and then be researching and booking overwater bungalows in Bora Bora in the evening.
