Name: Maggie Smoczynski
Age: 21
Title: Film Student at Arizona State University
Married/Single: Taken like Liam Neeson
City you live in: Phoenix
A typical day in my life includes…
waking up and immediately making coffee (black with a splash of oat milk). Next, I’ll take care of my pets – a bird named monkey and a fish named, yes, oat milk. Then, I’ll get ready for the day, and follow that up with a combination of school, videography, photography, cooking, and hardcore gaming on Animal Crossing.
I was born…
in Illinois, the land of corn. I’m a big fan of corn, both on the cob and off.
My favorite thing about Arizona…
is the red rocks in Sedona. I definitely took them for granted when I lived there for a few years!
I’m listening to…
the album Freudian by Daniel Caesar (which I have been since my freshman year of college), the album Unsigned by Cal Scruby, and anything by blackbear. For songs specifically, I have “Lovestained” by Hope Tala, “ily” by Surf Mesa, and “July” by Noah Cyrus on repeat.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…
my boyfriend! We love going out to eat, it’s our favorite thing ever. Or Harry Styles because c’mon.
One thing I cannot live without…
is food. I get so hangry if I miss a meal, or a snack (or a post-snack snack). I’m usually super bubbly but I turn into a form of angry Shrek that you cannot begin to comprehend. My go-to is a quesadilla – extra crispy, perfect amount of cheese. If you mess up the cheese ratio you might as well just start over.
When I was younger, I wanted to be…
a veterinarian or a chef! I grew up with so many animals around my home, and I always knew I wanted to take care of them. Or cook them (HAHA, jk), as growing up I wanted to go to culinary school instead of regular college. Clearly, I didn’t follow through on that, oops.
I’m inspired by…
my mom. I swear she is perfect. I notice myself becoming more and more like her every day, and I’m not mad about that at all.
The one person who motivates me is…
my boyfriend! He is the Sharkboy to my Lavagirl. Wait, are they brother and sister? I hope not. But yeah, he’s always there for me. I recently started to explore other creative avenues (like my YouTube channel!) and he never fails to help with ideas or keep me focused.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be…
how many times I have to hear “We have the meats” from an Arby’s commercial while I’m watching TV. Like, I get it. You have meat.
The perfect day would be…
full of new adventures! It doesn’t have to be much, exploring new places and experimenting with new foods never fails to make me happy.
My first job was…
at a yoga boutique. I’ve never folded so many leggings in my life.
My favorite escape…
is re-watching my favorite old movies and childhood cartoons. Most of the time, they slap. Only on occasion am I let down by the quality (I’m looking at you, Ice Age 1). My favorite cartoons are The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Adventure Time, Chowder, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Ren and Stimpy, and C.O.D.E.N.A.M.E. Kids Next Door. Watch all of them. Now.
I’m currently working on…
getting A’s in my classes, plus my YouTube channel! I really enjoy the editing process and I learn new techniques with every video I create.
Always…
be nice to people. You never know what’s going on in their life.
Never…
eat at Arby’s.
Favorite Quote…
“See the good” – Wayne Gretzky – Michael Scott – Maggie Smoczynski
Biggest Dream…
simply put, to be happy. I would also eventually like to be in a financial position where I can help people who truly need it most.
My Pet Peeve(s)…
bad hygiene, cigarettes, germs, dirt, the Brisket Bacon Beef ‘N’ Cheddar sandwich from Arby’s, and tuna fish out the bag.
