Title: Managing Director, Raceway Car Wash Company
Married/Single: Married

City you live in: Phoenix
A typical day in my life includes…
I wake up in the morning and grab a cup of coffee and a protein bar. Then I go sit in the living room with my wife and read the Bible. Then I review my calendar for the day and write down three things I need to get done. Then I journal a little bit, do some exercises, and get ready for the day.
I head to the office and try to get those three things done. Then I go into a series of head-spinning phone calls, meetings, task handling stuff, errands, etc. I try to write down everything, so I know what I did all day, because I can’t remember a damn thing.
Then I go home and have dinner with the family, usually followed by some kind of event – guys group, bible study, having people over, a social engagement, etc.
I was born…
in San Jose, California, and grew up south of San Jose in Morgan Hill. I moved to Reno when I was in high school. After high school, I moved to Tahoe, where I met my wife. Then we moved to Phoenix and got married. I graduated from ASU in December 2006.
My favorite thing about Arizona…
The people and community. Phoenix is a big city, but it feels like a small town.
I’m listening to…
I listen to a lot of audiobooks. I like to listen on 2x speed so I can squeeze more into a day. A few of the books I’m listening to right now are:
- “Goals: How to Get Everything You Want Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible” by Brian Tracy.
- “48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene
- “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle
- “Claim Your Power” by Mastin Kipp
My family…
I’ve been married to my wife, Stacy, for 15 years. I’ve got a better wife than I deserve. Our eldest child, Jared, is going to be 14 in December and is in eighth grade. He’s good looking, smart, athletic, entrepreneurial – everything I wanted to be.
Our next son, Will, is the cool kid. He’s 12 and in sixth grade. He’s into Jiu-jitsu and he’s got really cool hair. He’s funny, gregarious, and happy. He’s a leader, but I’m trying to teach him not to lead if he doesn’t know where he’s going.
Then we have Caleb. He’s nine and in third grade. We say he’s the first one to cry and the first one to try. He has a really high EQ, and he makes friends easily. He’s always riding his bike to someone’s house and is the kid everyone wants for a friend.
My daughter, Anna Jean, rules the roost. We call her “Sis.” She’s seven, and she’s in second grade. I call her “Mama,” because she’s always taking care of everybody. She cooked waffles for the boys one morning this week, and she was handing out encouragement cards to everyone the other night.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…
the average celebrity doesn’t interest me, but I would love to have dinner with C.S. Lewis.
One thing I cannot live without…
meaning. I can’t live a meaningless life.
When I was younger, I wanted to be…
when I was really young I wanted to be a baseball player. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a youth pastor. If I could just stop swearing, I might have a shot.
I’m inspired by…
C.S. Lewis, J.I. Packer, and Tim Keller on the spiritual side. When I grow up, up I want to be Simon Sinek.
The one person who motivates me is…
the godfather of car washing – Paul Fazio, who owns and operates Sonny’s Car Wash Services, an international car wash supplier that just opened a large distribution center in Phoenix.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be…
I want to give people the opportunity to meet a need for someone else. I think that people’s hearts are healed when they are moved by compassion for another. It gets us outside of ourselves and rather than focusing on what we don’t have or want, we see the excess from which we have to give.
The perfect day would be…
I don’t know that I’d change anything about my day. I’m pretty happy with my life right now.
My first job was…
I worked for the maintenance department of an HOA golf community, and I painted curbs and fire hydrants. I was 15.
My favorite escape…
I like traveling in general, and I like exploring. I recently bought a truck so I could wander off on a dirt road somewhere – don’t really care where. I also love being on the water, and I’d like to learn how to sail.
My life…
my life goal is to have a meaningful life filled with meaningful work and meaningful relationships. You don’t ever fully arrive at a goal like that, but I get to race towards it every day by building a car wash company that serves the community and our crew members.
We’ve all seen the poster board signs on the side of the road – people with signs raising money for their football team or to go camping. At the center of that is a car wash helping people achieve their goals and raising money for the things that matter most. That’s what I get to do every single day.
I’m currently working on…
building Raceway Car Wash into a company that matters to the communities we serve and provides a path to success for our crew members.
Always…
know what you want.
Never…
drive dirty.
Favorite Quote…
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said; people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” – Maya Angelou
Biggest Dream…
to use Raceway Car Wash to build up people and communities.
My Pet Peeve(s)…
coffee that isn’t hot.
