This resort is not only a California favorite, but a favorite for travelers from all over the world for nearly 130 years. We are talking about the Hotel del Coronado, a.k.a The Del.
And what better time to experience this luxurious, legendary resort than this summer? In case you needed an excuse to leave the desert and head up north to cooler weather and fun in the sun that you can actually enjoy, the gorgeous beachside Hotel del Coronado has some exciting summer culinary experiences planned for guests.
California Clambake
The Del’s California Clambake will feature the delicious fresh food from California’s coast along with live entertainment and other fun activities. Fresh seafood is quite a treat to us desert dwellers, and this clambake is the perfect opportunity for you to dig right in.
Communal tables will be set up to dine at sunset where you will be filling your bellies with steamed, boiled, or grilled clams, Executive Chef John Shelton’s favorites.
Clambakes are happening at The Del on June 30, July 28, August 18, and September 15.
Cost for the clambakes is $125 per person, which includes a local beer or cocktail.
Winemaker Dinner Series
Wine tastes even better when consumed by the ocean. And The Del certainly agrees. They have created a Winemaker Dinner Series at the resort that features a multi-course gourmet dinner paired with limited release wines from all over the world.
At this dinner series, guests will have the chance to talk one-on-one with winemakers while feasting on wines and local food.
Here are the series offered this summer:
- Robert Craig Wine Dinner – Thursday, June 15. This dinner will feature wine from Robert Craig Winery, where the focus is on crafting award-winning wines using grapes from Napa Valley.
- Justin Vineyards Wine Dinner – Wednesday, July 12. JUSTIN Vineyards will be the feature of this dinner, and JUSTIN is not stranger to good wine. In 2000, JUSTIN Vineyard’s 1997 ISOSCELES wine was named the 6th best in the world according to Wine Spectator.
- Far Niente Wine Dinner – Tuesday, August 8. Far Niente is proud of its promise to practice “winemaking in its highest form,” and is incredibly successful at producing unique and high-quality wines.
- Merryvale Wine Dinner – Thursday, September 7. With wine pairings from Merryvale Vineyards, this dinner promises wines made of only the finest fruits from Napa Valley.
