A brand new Gila River Casino in Chandler is set to open next month as the first casino in the state to offer an updated Vegas-style gaming compact, bringing a one-of-a-kind entertainment destination to Arizona’s San Tan Mountains.
The $180-million development broke ground in 2021 and is slated to open on June 30 with 33,000 square feet of gaming floor. Highlights of the 160-acre Santan Mountain Casino will include locally-designed chandeliers that will welcome guests at each of the entrances, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a ballroom that can fit up to 900 people, an outdoor garden space and a 7,000-square-foot sportsbook that will be the largest for a casino in the state.
The high-limit gambling space will house more than 800 slot machines, plus a unique white roulette table from Europe. It will also feature sound technology that can adjust the volume of the music in the room to complement the noise and ambiance of the space.
One of the main attractions of the new Gila River Casino will be the signature restaurant, Honey and Vine, that will serve guests locally-sourced food and flavors from the Gila River Indian Community. Other dining venues include Rizzo’s, a pizza and Italian food concept, Taste Kitchen, serving American traditions, and Mein Dish, which will offer guests tastes of Asian cuisine.
In addition to the world-class gaming and dining experiences that it will bring to residents of San Tan Valley and surrounding cities, the Gila River Casino also plans to fill about 700 jobs, especially cook positions at all levels.
The Gila River Casino in Chandler will be the fourth Gila River casino in Arizona and is located near East Hunt Highway and Gilbert Road.
